Today's blog brought to you courtesy of another railway company and their fine rolling stock. I'm heading to the wilds of High Wycombe to talk to another school and prime them for their Radio 2 years. I always start the slide show/PowerPoint with the Radio 2 logo which makes the teachers laugh if nothing else. I will leap about and perform to the best of my abilities just like the Radio 1 Roadshow of old. It'll be like Barry Island 1986 all over again (but without the drunks at the front I trust).
Today we offer you another book club choice and this time it's Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl: The last Guardian. This is the last in a fantastically successful series of children's books about a 12 year old criminal mastermind, famously described by the author as 'Die Hard with fairies'. There is a chapter for you to read of course and then hear Eoin after 6.
And oldies does indeed need to be ANDY MURRAY. He put up a fantastic fight but when you're up against a magician, what's to be done? And even the Murray doubters seem to have been won over with his emotional, post match speech. We could go for tears, getting closer, or whichever angle you fancy really. A pick-up needed.
Have a cheery, good news filled Monday. See you after 5

Well done Parsley_cat for the Gerry Rafferty track - excellent! We have a colleague in the office who lives in Hebden Bridge. Much sympathy this morning, C. X The town also suffered in the wintry weather last winter and especially the one before. It's SUCH a lovely place to visit as well.

#136 - Seconding your comments on Bradley Wiggins - and if anyone wants to hear a sports reporter with a seriously dry sense of humour (NO offence intended whatsoever to Matt) then tune in to Gary Imlach on the TDF coverage (esp the highlights programme).

Getting off the fence - on the subject of stand-in presenters, I too would like to hear a bit more of Richard Allinson at a more reasonable hour of the day.

By the way - may I say 'hello' to Bertie-who-may-also-be-Baxter. I have been lurking and enjoying reading your posts.

Will try to suggest some tunes today - off to London though (for a red-faced, tongue-tied moment or four) so depends upon when the new blog appears.

Ooh yes - sorry, congrats to Billie, Zoe and ParsleyCat x

    Good Morning Blogchums

Ah ... that old nutshell - stand-in presenters.
I have no real preference probably because I never listen to DT when Simon is on holiday.

In other news - how refreshing to see and hear some reporting on the success of Bradley Wiggins - an intensely dedicated sportsman.

    :^)

    And I'm still not asleep....

#132 Thanks for the info, uncle gazza :)

Patrick Kielty is alright as a stand-in for frothier presenters, but for Simon? Ah, well... Better go to bed, and stop moaning about stuff I have no power over...

#129 Shona - Simon did say that he was on holiday next week. I suppose he's taking some holidays now, as he will be on the road for the Olympics. He usually takes a good 3-4 weeks during the school summer holidays, I think.

I suppose Liza will be sitting in again, and I have nothing against her, but can't help wishing that Richard Allinson could get the sub gig. He is so much more like for like with Simon, a good interviewer with great music knowledge. Just my two penneth anyway!

    Goodnight one and all x

    *beams*

Evening everyone. Congratulations to Billie for a double menshe, Zoe and Parsley Cat.

Thank you Simon for my mensh tonight ;)

Did I hear Simon saying he is off on holiday next week? Back to work for me tomorrow and then decisions have to be made about when to take more time off. By the sounds of the weather lady on the show tonight, it's going to be a bit of hit or miss sun wise over the next few weeks.

Ah well, a break is a break.

    See you all tomorrow ;)
