Farewell to Sally from Drivetime

Presenter

Not exactly today but she doesn't work fridays and I'm off for the next two weeks. Sally has decided to call it a day at the Radio 2 Drivetime travel desk after years of hard slog and devotion to the M25 as people drive home. Afternoons will not be the same! What will I do without someone to find an innuendo in every sentence? Who can match the throaty appeal of the trucker's pal? (she's snorting at that one obviously) Even from afar I always thought Sal had one of the best voices on the radio and it has been great to have her on the team (stop it Sally). How can I mark our last show together? Why, SALLY TRAFFIC oldies of course. What greater honour...

That being said, Nigel's offering of Sweet Soy Beef Cheeks might not be tailor made to Sal's tastes. There is a mango salad on the side, so maybe she'll have to make do with that. A few green leaves and a slice of fruit is not exactly a gold watch but maybe better for you...

Keep cool, drink water, mind the gap, fight the power.

See you at 5 (still no shorts).

Forgot to say - well done everyone for mentions yesterday - terrific clutch, and well done new bloggers.

I was gallivanting at a posh dinner last night so missed the second half .

Have a good Friday. I'd planned to cut the grass after work in anticipation of a big barbie on Sunday - cue thunder and lightning and rain all weekend??

    Morning all

Glorious here in Cheshire too - it'll be a sunny drive down the M6 this morning. Hopefully they'll be time to choon-chase when I get back.

Glad you had a good night at the swimming events, Will - enjoy the rest of the games that you get to see. Perhaps you and Mrs P are lucky mascots for Scotland!

Wow Will, you picked a good night to go! I saw it on the television - Ross Murdoch's face was a picture! And then when he was getting his medal and he was trying not to cry!

Great first day for the home nations, so many medals. Hopefully it will continue today!

Good morning PJ and everybody else too obvs.

What a night at Tollcross for the swimming. A gold medal for Scotland in the first race of the evening, a fantastic swim by Hannah Miley. Then a gold and silver in the 200m breaststroke. A bit of a shock that the gold didn't go to Michael Jamieson but Ross Murdoch swam superbly. The look on his face after the race once he realised that he'd won was the highlight of the night.
