"Events, dear boy Events"!
That was the apparently unflappable Prime Minister, Harold MacMillan, discussing what most concerned him. He meant the crises that arrive out of clear blue skies and changed the political weather overnight. Well we have had plenty of 'events' during this latest run of Feedback...

Andy Parfitt, the Controller of Radio 1, is clearly devoted to his job. Why else would you agree to curl up in a sleeping bag on the floor of Chris Moyles' studio while the Breakfast King and his sidekick Comedy Dave try to stay awake for 51.5 hours in order to create a new world record for Red Nose...

The Time - 10am on Thursday 10th March.
The Place - The Grimond Room in Portcullis House.
The Occasion - pre-appointment hearing with the Government's preferred candidate for the role of the Chairman of the BBC Trust.
In the corridor outside, the media pack compares notes about what is a unique event...

Nine a.m. on a cold March day in North London. I knock on the door of a flat in a new tower block. When the door opens I'm straight in with my questions before the occupant can shut it in my face.
How long have you lived here? Are you on your own? Who else lives here? Emboldened by the fact that the...

All radio presenters who are worth their salt want to go where the action is, but are they all really needed when they get there? After all the BBC has an extensive number of foreign correspondents distributed around the world's troublespots, as well as having foreign affairs specialists such as John...

Editor's note: this week's Feedback focused on the English language, on Royal visits to Ambridge an on the conclusion of the BBC Trust's review of Radio 4 - SB.
There are many incidental pleasures to be derived from the latest BBC Trust Review, a copy of which is now available on its website.

For many listeners to Feedback, it will be many years since they listened to Radio 1 - if they ever did. That's a problem for us on the Feedback team because we're here to represent the views of listeners of all the national networks. But because it's broadcast on Radio 4 - what happens on that station...

There was once a head of BBC News, called Tahu Hole, who implemented a regime of extreme caution. In his, much resented, view it was the job of his staff only to report what others had found out rather than what they had uncovered for themselves. Each story would only be broadcast if there were already...

It started with a tweet. "I will if you will", says Heather. "Wot for a whole week?" says Jenni?
I wonder how many women over the age of 35 would choose to wake up with Chris Moyles every morning. And how many teenagers would swap Judge Jules and Jo Whiley for Jonathan Dimbleby and Justin Webb?

Lynda Snell has seen off many rivals to her position as the most irritating person in Ambridge. Marjorie Antrobus started as a formidable character but went on to become a bit of a national treasure. Brian Aldridge can be a pain, and has caused much unhappiness, but his love for Ruairi is unquestionable...

Which Today programme presenter reportedly said he wants to "upset" more people?
John Humphrys surely?
Well, no actually.
Step forward Mr Nice-Guy himself, the ever courteous Justin Webb, widely admired by many Feedback listeners for the way he doesn't interrupt every few seconds. Naturally...

Editor's note: this week's item from Radio 4's accountability programme Feedback is about BBC Monitoring after the renegotiated licence fee settlement - SB
Shortly before his execution Charles 1 was taken to Caversham Park near Reading, where he wrote to his son James to arrange their last meeting....

In Feedback this week we discussed the deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg but listeners weren't concerned about what he said on Desert island Discs about his inability to give up smoking, or where he took his girlfriends in the days before he met his wife.
No, our correspondents were concerned about whether...

Since Feedback came off the air in late August, the BBC has rarely been out of the headlines. There was Radio 1's Chris Moyles complaining at considerable length that he hadn't been paid. Then the Chairman of the BBC Trust, who had old me in June that he wanted his contract extended, suddenly changed...

"Why did this trial only appear on the BBC's News radar when there was a celebrity event to cover?" - Julie Smith.
"The BBC seems to be becoming like the tabloid newspapers, caught up in the cult of celebrity" - Cynthia Wells.
"The message is loud and clear that it is important because famous people are...

Editor's note: this week's item from Feedback, Radio 4's weekly accountability programme, concerns the highly contentious issue of trails. Putting his head in the lion's mouth to defend them is network manager, Denis Nowlan. Brave man - SB
What is it about trails that so excites or rather inflames the...

Editor's note: this week's item from Feedback, Radio 4's accountability programme, is an interview with Kirsty Young, presenter of one of Radio 4's best-loved programmes: Desert Island Discs.
In the days of Roy Plomley the production of Desert Island Discs was a relaxed, some would say civilised,...

Editor's note: this week's item from Feedback, Radio 4's accountability programme, concerns the redesign of one of the BBC's biggest web sites - SB.
Most of the comments - OK, complaints - we get on Feedback are about programmes (and of course trails, and grammar and pronunciation and presenters like...

If Dr Johnson was right in saying that "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life", then a lot of Feedback listeners are pretty exhausted. The cause is the two week London Season which has just finished on Radio 4. Let me give you a flavour of the reaction of some out of London listeners.

Editor's note. Every week we're publishing one item from Radio 4's accountability programme Feedback. This week's item is of more general interest and concerns the campaign to save 6 Music - SB
"What is the point of protesting to the BBC? No producer or manager ever admits that they are wrong."
