Here it is. Mark Damazer's final interview as Radio 4 Controller.

Twenty minutes of fascinating discussion with Broadcasting House presenter Paddy O'Connell, touching on pressure from politicians and civil servants, on opening up Thought for the Day to secular voices and on not cancelling Woman's Hour - among many other issues. A really fascinating retrospective glimpse of life running Britain's most important radio station. And you'll learn Mark's favourite Radio 4 sound too (I bet it's not what you expect).

I enjoyed listening to this interview. I remember the fierce debate surrounding Thought For The Day to which Mr Damazer referred. Intriguingly, he said that the decision to continue to exclude non-believers from the programme was reached by himself and two others and added " but I am not here to talk about that". Who were the two others?

If C P Snow is anything to go by he has certainly made the right decision, though as an "outsider" there could be some with axes to grind. A small price to pay for all that fine wine and excellent cuisine - cut crystal glinting in the candlelight!

Thanks Steve. I was disappointed that Paddy O'Connell wanted to concentrate on news aspects, Mark having emphasised that Radio 4 is about much more than that, and that the question of where Mark thought Radio 4 might be going in the future was not asked.

Can we look forward to an initial interview with Gwyneth Williams?
