How to Say: Davos 9:20pm on 02 Feb 2009 Having been to Davos on holiday twice, I can confidently state that in local announcements (e.g. on trains) it's pronounced DAH-Vose (ose as in hose)

English eyes smile for Swann 5:36pm on 12 Dec 2008 Finally the day came that Swann made his test debut, the thing (as you can probably surmise from my name) that I have been longing for for so long.

I really do wish the best for Graeme, and if he does well enough to push for a place above Monty when only one spinner plays, it could help English cricket more as Monty goes back to Northants and learns to bowl properly.

Anyway, Good Luck to Swanny. Lets show Harbajan how to bowl some off-spin!
Shah shows value for England 4:18pm on 01 Sep 2008 # 31 - Don't think samit's good enough with the ball to be a genuine wicket taker, he's more of a containing (paul harris) type spinner in the longer game. He could bat quite high up the order though, so i reckon he might get in as a second spinner during the india tour
Shah shows value for England 10:59am on 01 Sep 2008 I'd love to rip you to shreds! As far as I'm concerned (as a notts fan), i do agree that samit could have been better - but consider this

- Samit normally bats at 4 or 5 at notts and therefore tends to build innings rather than come in down the order and slog.

- He's never really been the sole spinner at notts, even when swann was missing earlier in the year, rob ferley was part of the side. Samit is used to playing as one of two good spinners (I should point out I don't rate Pietersen as a bowler at all)

England exploit SA failings 1:46pm on 30 Aug 2008 When will people like little_jon_uk to understand that Trescothick will NEVER play for England again?

He has a stress related illness that prevents him travelling abroad because he worries about what could happen to his family while he is not there. We can't have a man who only plays in England, it would upset the balance of the team and reduce the morale of the man who is removed from the team to make room for him.

He doesn't want to play for England anymore because of his illness and he has stated that he just wants to stick at somerset and play county cricket.

Besides, with this murray mint/ball 'tampering' revelation, he's not going to be the most popular choice around the world, and that could only serve to aggravate his stress further. Trescothick was and is a great player, but unfortunately, his international career is over and we have to look ahead and encourage players like Alistair Cook in tests and Ian Bell in ODI's with their batting instaed of constantly talking about a man who is better than them coming back when he won't!
England future brighter with Harmison back 7:19pm on 11 Aug 2008 Robius 3 - Swann is a big spinner of the ball, he does give it a real tweak, i know, i've watched him play at notts and for england enough times!
Five batsmen not enough for England 9:04pm on 21 Jul 2008 The best keeper in the country is Chris Read, and though he has made a few howlers at international level with the bat, he is capable and has been a consistant run scorer in the County Championship for the last few years, and we must remember that he was in good form for England before being inexplicably dropped TWICE during the Ashes 06/07 and following ODI series

South Africa hold whip hand 9:21pm on 19 Jul 2008 Oh and as for the Vaughan/Ambrose issue, replace Vaughan with Shah, who bats at 5 with Bell at 3, and swap Ambrose with Read, who can bat, averaging around 50 this season in the CC and is arguably the best keeper in the country.

Oh, and will people stop calling pattinson australian! HE IS NOT AUSTRALIA QUALIFIED, HE IS 100% ENGLISH!
