Two questions, are the live games also being broadcast in HD (in which case will iPlayer offerings also be available in HD?)

And secondly, will iPlayer offerings be available for download or will they only be available for streaming?

Purely out of interest, why does the BBC have to go and ask nicely for access to the 3G networks? Is there a block on iPlayer put in place by the phone networks?

A: Apple do not offer their FairPlay DRM to 3rd parties. It's closed, proprietary digital rights management which the BBC has no access to. So, no downloads to Apple devices.

No chance of offering iplayer content through iTunes rentals? or a dedicated iPlayer iPhone app to download content through?

I assume this would be wi-fi only same as iPlayer?
Terminator Redemption? 9:39pm on 23 Jun 2009 Firstly, i've not seen Terminator Salvation yet, not sure when or if I will. But isn't the "it shouldn't have been an action film" defence on the Good Doctors part a little juvenile?, it's a bit like saying your not going to comment on how good or bad the chinese food was because you'd expected pizza!

Perhaps he'd try having a third go at it pretending he doesn't know anything about the director or about the previous 3 films. Obviously if he still thinks the film stinks, then fair enough, but film reviews with less baggage really do help the audience to gauge if its something they themselves would enjoy.

BT and the iPlayer 10:54pm on 10 Jun 2009 So many comments, so many missing the point, if a consumer buys 4 meg broadband from BT, BT should be delivering 4 meg broadband (or close) as often as possible. The speed shouldn't differ depending on what time the customer is accessing the service, or what the customer is accessing.

In return BT charges the customer whatever it costs to deliver the service. Why is that business model so hard for BT to grasp?

Could I suggest a simple menu of options when you hover over "tv channels" or the others.

Or possibly, a slightly different landing page with the standard left sidebar navigation menu but with a "carousel" of highlights for each radio station or tv channel to both suggest content for the user to watch/listen to and help them to decide which sub section to dig deeper into.
BBC iPlayer Website Redesign 10:09pm on 02 Jul 2008 Okay, not sure if anyone has noted this yet, but firstly in general i'm really liked the new beta version, progress being made in every important aspect, apart from one.

The video quality is better, generally there is more information on the front page, without it feeling cluttered.

My big problem with it is the awful TV channels, Radio Stations, Categories landing pages, (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayerbeta/tv, http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayerbeta/radio, http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayerbeta/categories), there is no need for them when the next page down in the hierachy has the same information plus more laid out in a more accessible way, making those landing pages redudant, meaning they are simply an additional barrier between the user and the content.

Lose those pages and it'll be job done.
BBC iPlayer 2.0: Sneak Preview 12:23pm on 25 Jun 2008 It does look great, my biggest request would be to be able to de-select certain channels programs, for example I'm never gonna watch anything from the BBC children channels, so being able to make sure those programs never appear on the front page would be very welcomed.
Mad About Mac? 5:00pm on 10 Jun 2008 I think the price cut indicates that they've reached all the mac addict early adopters, now they want to reach beyond that market in much the same way the ipod has.
