From the NHL to Altrincham 5:42pm on 27 Oct 2009 I've just stumbled upon your blog, and found your response regarding the reasoning for belonging to different leagues useful. I went to my second ever ice hockey match a couple of weeks ago - the first was when I was nine, and Paul Adey was 'our' star player - and thoroughly enjoyed it, without knowing what on earth was going on for most of the time!

There's an element of theatre - ok, not an element, the whole thing is a caricature of sport - but I couldn't believe how well subscribed it was. The Nottingham arena was 75% full, and the crowd were really good natured.

It seems such a shame that the sport looks to be fragmented and poorly marketed; I'll definitely be going back (next weekend, actually) - but the 8-team league really puts me off going more regularly; there's just not the variety it needs.
Challenging gang culture 6:55pm on 09 Jul 2009 Absolutely. Black kids need to see black adults behaving responsibly; so do brown and white kids respectively. It's called a working family unit, and it starts with loving parents bringing up a child with two good role models.

Come to mention it, I think that might solve a fair few other problems, too...

Can we expect a half-hour unedited of Cameron talking to a friendly Conservative party audience for balance purposes?

please continue holding the government to account. You seem to be standing alone, and your blog is the one reason I keep coming back to the BBC. For which I pay.

And yes, it rather does smack of a re-announcement. What's the betting "we're focusing on the real problems at hand, giving real help to people [so forget about any harmless jovial email tittle-tattle about some opposition MP]"...?
A happy Christmas at your club? 09:48am on 25 Dec 2008 Santa just delivered Gudjon Thorardson... hopefully this might make saturday afternoons slightly less painful for this hardened Crewe Alexandra fan. As it stands, it's not just been a cold Christmas - it's been a cold three months!

Serious questions to answer 6:52pm on 03 Dec 2008 Nick, why the need to jab one to the leader of the opposition here? Surely if a government - any government, red or blue - wasn't lying through their teeth, this kind of 'leaking' wouldn't be necessary in the first place.

We've had yet another catalogue of failures by government and the Parliamentary authorities, and yet the 'searching question' upon which you end is irrelevant and biased. Disappointing.
Proud 9:29pm on 06 Nov 2008 No news on the front page about Glenrothes... nothing but abundant praise for the socialist, ethnically diverse and politically correct Obama.

Oh and a story on the front page - presumably in place of "Brown expects drubbing from royally peeved electorate" - telling us that 9 out of 10 Britons are happy! You couldn't make it up.
