Why men are to blame for the crunch 3:27pm on 29 Jul 2009 The dealing floor...a female free zone, a bear pit brimming over with testosterone... a frenzy factory...it would never have been invented by a woman...they would have invented something more intelligent!
Why men are to blame for the crunch 11:22am on 29 Jul 2009 We definately need more women in banks and business...women who don't try to act like men... and men who behave so that women do not to have to act like men.
Business still being crunched by banks 08:42am on 27 Jul 2009 Building their balance sheets on the backs of the people they shafted...the people who rescued them. Snuffing out small businesses whose ability to trade profitably has been trashed by the actions of the banks...this is the stuff revolutions are made of!
Business still being crunched by banks 11:37am on 23 Jul 2009 Make no mistake, SMEs are being totally stuffed by the banks. They have raised the cost of borrowing to a usurous level and increased their charges significantly. SMEs may be the seedcorn of our future prosperity and provide a huge number of jobs, but they are a time-consuming irritant to banks. 'Big bucks'don't come from lending to SMEs.

SMEs are having a really torrid time dealing with banks right now, but are afraid to publicise what is actually going on because of how their bank might react. Employers organisations have been singularly useless at highlighting their plight - probably because all their committees are peppered with bank representatives who would be quick to report any miscreant SME who dared to reveal their behaviour. Think this is paranoid? Go and ask the MD of an SME!

A sad irony that banks perceive SMEs to be a big risk (and charge accordingly) when banks have recently been(and perhaps still are) the biggest risk to all of us...and we supported them!

Governor criticises government (again) 08:19am on 18 Jun 2009 Up until now I have not been one of Mr King's greatest fans, but I give him full marks for his speech last night.

The tripartite arrangement as it currently stands is nonsense. It is a recipe for indecision and obfuscation. As for the FSA, it needs to be directly responsible to the Bank.

As for rebuilding trust, that is a different matter. A trust betrayed is seldom regained. It is unfortunate that so many people have had to learn the hard way that banks and bankers should never be trusted. (It's a money thing!)
Rebuilding the foundations of finance 10:42am on 17 Jun 2009 A tripartite system means that there will always be waffle and indecision. There has to be one organisation - preferably the Bank of England - that can weald the big stick and that can be held accountable.

Banks bosses are big on obfuscation. They need to be kept on a very tight rein, they need something to fear...how about consfication of personal assets for maladministration?

If it's their policies they are trying to sell, then they have got the wrong salesman. You don't buy from someone you don't like ...or is not likeable! IT'S THAT SIMPLE!

Bosses' pay and WPP 4:35pm on 02 Jun 2009 Shareholders have the power to do something about excessive salaries. They don't because the majority of the shares in the companies that pay obscene salaries are held by pension funds and their like. They don't want to rock the boat. Remuneration committees? They are a joke. Senior executives salaries etc are passed at AGM's 'on the nod'. This has to stop.

Time to sharpen the axe? Revolution in the air? Not such a far-fetched thought as you might think!
