When does old age begin? 3:17pm on 19 May 2009 "China is a country that reveres age" - interesting anthromorphism there! Not sure a country can revere anything, nor would it be entirely accurate to make a generalisation about a group of over 1 billion people!
The loneliness of a long-distance cricketer 10:22am on 02 Apr 2009 "It's all very well KP complaining about being home sick but he is clearly quite happy to take off for a further period away from home straight after this tour to take part in the IPL? Maybe money is the best cure for home sickness?"

I can't think of any person in their mid-20's turning down that sort of money - the concept and large numbers involved tend to discourage thinking of consequences.

The decision to play in IPL was made before the Winter Tour to Hell and back fresh on an appointment as captain, when all was well. Everyone has bad days and good days.

No one posting comments here has met KP, let alone claim to "know" him at any level, so are not placed to comment on his personal issues. As a cricketer he's brilliant, if inconsistent

Grammar test results 2:38pm on 19 Nov 2008 Most "authorities" agree that grammar is a group of descriptive rules that show how language is used. If a word or phrase is part of common usage, it can be considered to be correct. The arguments mainly concern what is "common usage" and usage by whom, and in what context.

The main point is that grammar is fluid and descriptive, not static and regimented. Therefore the majority of "errors" in your text can be considered correct from a grammatical point of view. Whether they are acceptable in the context of a BBC report is a very different matter

No one believes Labour can win the next election, so no one is prepared to tarnish their CV with a loss as leader - let Gordon lose this one and then have a leadership contest. Even MP's in marginals are aware that no leader at the moment can help the situation, unless Britain's economy suddenly booms, and Iraq's/Afghanistan's rebels suddenly become sheep and petrol suddenly halves in price.

Any realistic leadership candidate will wait until there is a chance of being seen as labour's saviour, rather than another stopgap

I absolutely agree. Ads, targetted or otherwise are all around us anyway. I don't pay much attention to them, and if I do they have caught my eye because they are relevant - again the media used is irrelevant.

The fact is that internet/TV/magazines are worth what you ascribe to them. I value google as a tool - some bits I like and use, some I don't. It is perfectly possible to have an entire online life without giving a penny or a single byte of data to google if you really want to. But if you're paranoid about someone at google tracking every online movement you're making then the numbers involved should be quite reassuring (ironic that "google" was originally a misspelling of "googol" (10 to the power of 100)
Separating fact from fiction 4:39pm on 18 Aug 2008 When journalists on News Programmes return to reporting News, rather than commenting and analysing, then you can expect balanced unbiased reporting.

By adding comment and analysis from people who are employed by the BBC or who are paid consultants you end up with imbalance, even if you present an equal number from both sides.

Journalism should be based on reporting facts, not speculation on future repercussions, or possible motives and especially not "what if...."

This conflict has been reported in a very imbalanced way from all sides, but as a previous correspondent mentioned, readers/watchers/listeners of the BBC should not have to rely on outside sources to find the counterweight
