Where now for Everton? 2:38pm on 26 Nov 2009 Wouldn't it be better for Everton, Liverpool, the city of Liverpool, the fans and the country as a whole, if the council told both clubs, you can build the best ground in the world, but you're sharing it?

One super stadium that would rival Wembley (though maybe with around 70,000 seats) for its facilities and be better than any other ground in Britain, would guarantee a Euro final, a few world cup games, generate massive revenue for both clubs and save each of them 50% of the building and maintenance costs.

The world and football has move massively in the last couple of decades, we wouldn't be talking about a San Siro, but the next generation of stadium, just look at Arsenals ground, at least twice as good as any stadium in the world that is more than a decade old.

It's time to put the (ludicrous) bitterness aside and look at the big picture, a super stadium the envy of the world with shared costs, or 2 quite nice new grounds that will cost each club a fortune to build and just as much to maintain.

If we have 20+ grounds that are acceptable, why not use them all, it's not as if there are major travel concerns and during the group stages wouldn't it be a better idea to spread the games around as much as possible?
That was horrid, Henry 2:21pm on 19 Nov 2009 Isn't it about time a player, manager, team, or federation sued FIFA, they wouldn't win of course, but at least they'd make the statement that, 'enough is enough'?

Sooner or later a nutty fan somewhere will take action into his own hands and god help the rule makers then, especially if it's in a country where guns are readily available.

Is this the same Steve Bruce that follows the cash, leaving clubs as quickly as he can, as soon as he gets offered more £££££££?

Or maybe it's the same Steve Bruce that decided to award man of the match to David Beckham after he played about 15 minutes in an England game, purely because he didn't want to award it to a player who spurned him and Sunderland in the transfer window.
Nutt gets the sack 3:02pm on 01 Nov 2009 Please remember everyone, the cultivation of cannabis was only made illegal in the USA because of the market for oil, coal and cotton (this would also be the reason the rest of the world demonized cannabis), these three products were monopolised by the ruling elite of the USA (and everywhere else), whereas anyone could grow hemp for profit, the (greatly exaggerated) dangers of cannabis were only mentioned in an attempt to legitimize this decision.

Hemp was very quickly becoming the most lucrative product in the country, virtually all rope (a major industry in the day) was made from it and it was increasingly being used as a cheaper fuel source than oil or coal, the market for the materials made from its fibres was also increasing rapidly, as people noticed it was far more durable than cotton.

If the growth of hemp got back to the levels it was at before being made illegal, it would bring great benefits to many countries economically and would also help to reduce CO2 levels as its production uses less energy than any other fuel source, whilst its growth produces more oxygen than any other crop,.
Sadly though, the ruling elite still run the oil/coal industries in most of the world, so they will never allow this to happen.

They get expert advice on many things, then dismiss it on a whim if it is not what they wanted to hear.

More people do die each year horseriding than taking ecstacy, cannabis is safer to use than alcohol and you'll never hear of a brawl starting due to smoking cannabis will you?

If all illegal drugs were legalised, regulated and taxed, there would be fewer dangers, no shady dealers cutting the drugs with other things, no drugs barons earning billions and a lot less of things that are associated with them, eg. people smuggling, slavery.

The growth and production of some of these drugs could help to stabalise a few countries, giving them guaranteed revenue.
Cannabis growth would help the environment, it is very quickly grown, produces more oxygen than any other crop, makes cheaper/stronger paper than trees, cheaper/stronger material than cotton, can be used as a cheaper bio-fuel than any other crop and has been the most widely used painkiller in the world for millenia.

All that before even taking into account the BILLIONS raised in taxes each year, in our current situation, this alone should be enough for any politician to study the facts (instead of their own twisted viewpoints) and look at the big picture, Britain is nearly bankrupt, any help plugging the debt must be looked at objectively.
Magnetic attraction of climate 'scepticism' 5:59pm on 30 Oct 2009 I am not a scientist, I don't care if man-made CO2 or Mr. Corbyns sun instability theory is correct.

What I do know for certain though is, the use of fossil fuels create many pollutants, the destruction of rain forests and dumping of chemical waste are damaging the environment and unless something is done soon about all 3 of these things, it will be too late to do anything at all.
Cycling's problematic pursuit of equality 4:43pm on 30 Oct 2009 Whilst I agree that costs always have to be taken into account, in something such as cycling, adding events rather than taking a few off the men to 'even the score', wouldn't add much to the overall cost.

We are building a new velodrome and the village itself, that is where the major money goes, not in adding a few more womens events. It seems to me this 'idea' is more about the time frame for cycling in the Olympics (not wanting it to run for more than a week) than anything else.
Agassi confession lengthens shadow of doubt 04:01am on 29 Oct 2009 Sadly it seems that a large percentage of people follow our current governments view on drugs, ie. regardless of expert scientific evidence, all drugs (except those we tax) are equally as evil as each other and anyone who takes anything illegal must be a 'bad' person and punished.

Personally I applaud Mr. Agassi for telling the truth, even if it is for financial gain (selling more copies of his book) and feel totally disgusted at the people in charge of professional tennis (as I did at road cycling) for brushing problems under the carpet.

Will anyone ever view a tennis match again, without having that nagging voice whispering 'cheat' in their ear.
Froch and fans frustrated 6:14pm on 23 Oct 2009 The Froch v Dirrell bout was no where near as bad as some are making out, no it wasn't particularly great but it wasn't a dire embarrassment either.
Froch certainly deserved the win as no matter how fancy Dirrells footwork and movement was, he landed nothing stronger than any bouncer could, at least a few of Frochs punches shook his opponent.

Abraham v Taylor was a different matter, yes Abraham would have won comfortably even without the KO, but at least his opponent landed some meaningful punches.

Abraham seems a class apart from the other 5 boxers and unless Kessler, or maybe one of the others ups their game massively, or gets that lucky/killer punch, there will be only one winner.
