The rights to highlight 1:42pm on 06 Aug 2009 I'm a Colchester fan who lives outside the analogue range for BBC Essex and I can't get them via DAB either. Am I going to be able to listen the live United commentaries on a Saturday afternoon via the net ...or will the broadcast suddenly disappear as the game kicks off for "licensing issues" (I've even sometimes been told I can't listen because I'm not resident in the UK although I live on the East Suffolk coast!)?

How long will China finance America? 10:49pm on 15 Jul 2009 With every dollar China increases in reserve holding; does with each dollar does the USA decrease in economic stature. What is really the joke is the joy such news is greeted by Wall St. Turkeys and Christmas come to mind.

What will be truly pitiful, is when the power, both political and economic, has moved to Beijing and Shanghai, the wailling is heard from Washington and New York... but we never saw this coming , we couldn't have seen this coming... it's not our fault!

Gordon Brown in the firing line 4:30pm on 14 Jul 2009 The failure to provide the necessary level of troops required/requested; the failure to provide the level of equipment needed/requested; and the desire for the army to make do with wholly inappropriate types of vehicle (Snatch LR's) is nothing short of murderous.
The joke's on us 11:13am on 02 Jul 2009 Ah ha! So, Lord Mandy of Everything has parked his postal trolly in a lock up of Whitehall ...in Long Grass Lane. Not before proving why he's not employed as a wise seer at the FT and only after calling in at the Treasury to truss up their tame but increasingly vexed badger.

Does The Badger not realise that he has been 'reshuffled' afterall?
I'm sure that's just a coincidence 12:48pm on 30 Jun 2009 Our Glorious Leader repeats promises and initiatives already promised and initialised a half dozen times before. Does he know that 96% of those suspected of a cancer already get to see a specialist with in two weeks?

Balls spouts balls on the radio, so machine-gun fast as to be almost incoherent! Tory cuts (we wont cut) ...a reduction in IHT (we've done that already) ...spending to continue to increase and tractor production continues to rise, forever and forever!

And meanwhile outside a golden palace in a city not so very far away, Lord Mandy of Everything tells us that all is well and we really shouldn't worry our pretty little heads about anything ...which is nice.

I increasingly read these days, in the papers and on line, reference to labour's "scorched earth" policy. There is the growing belief that Labour are attempting to leave the economy in such a bad state that the Tories will have to be so tough that the electorate will throw out the Tories after just one term and like the mugs we so often are, re-elect Labour.

While it's an view gathering traction, do you see any evidence, Mr Neil, that gives it credence?
Summertime and the living isn't easy for Gordon 1:31pm on 22 Jun 2009 There comes a point in every government's life where it is no longer able to successfully organise a piss up in a brewery... The brewery has no beer... everyone is given the wrong address etc.

This government reached that point, I would suggest, at that juxtaposition of the MPs' expenses leading to Speaker For NuLabour Martin losing the plot and the Gurkas saga ...in particular the sight of government policy being decided by Joanna Lumley.

Between here and the eventual General Election this government is and will continue to be completely ineffectual in terms of leading the Country. It exists now not just for it's own sake but solely and primarily so that history records that a Tory government doesn't...

While I shudder at the thought of a Tory government rampent for the next five years with a 100 plus majority, that has to be preferable to this corrupt fag end government dying before our very eyes.

The only counter I can offer to this would be the fierce rumours doing the rounds on the various political blogs and comment pages, that Lord Mandy of Everything is determined to keep Our Glorious Leader in No10 until the Irish have been successfully taught how to vote 'Yes'! After which, a Tory referendum would be difficult if not impossible. (Although the altogether more honest Lib Dem suggestion of a vote on all things Euro becomes a more interesting and plausible option).
The return of politics' 'N' word 3:31pm on 17 Jun 2009 Trident is a cold war era weapons system designed to combat the overwhelming numbers of a Soviet led attack on Nato forces across the northern plains of West Germany.

Spot the continued relevance of any fact in the above statement.

Replacing Trident will cost an initial £20 billion plus a further £40 - £50 billion in running and maintenance costs over the period of it's service life time.

Spot the definition of affordability in the above statement.

Tory and Labour leaders like Trident because, as they take turns being Prime Minister, it gives them parity with the French and means the Americans have to continue to pay lip service to the so called 'special relationship'.

Spot the uncomfortable truth in the above statement.

If the Lib Dems where right to say the war on Iraq was wrong; that the debt fuelled boom of the last 8 years was unsustainable and that ID cards are an expensive curtailment of our civil liberties too far, why is it that they are wrong on Trident?

Spot the policy declarations in the above stated question that make Labour and the Tories squirm with shame at their own woeful record on such issues!
Five reasons why Brown is smiling 9:00pm on 07 Jun 2009 Where, in their selve congratulatory back slapping in giving Our Glorious Leader another day at No10, was their heartfelt consideration of what is best for the Country?

What a bunch of total and utter ...(insert expletive of one own's choosing ... I can't because it will get censored ...sorry, I mean moderated).
Toasting Darling and Hoon? 4:40pm on 02 Jun 2009 Labour MPs voting for a dissolution of Parliament would be akin to turkeys voting for an early Christmas ...it ain't gonna happen.

Although you do get the feeling there is a momentum building where an early election becomes unavoidable.

I could not have put it more eloquently nor as suscintly.

All I would add is that this is no longer a scandal but a constitunional crisis. A General Election...NOW... is the only possible, rational way that it can begin to be resolved; with the new, untainted Parliament implementing the recomendations of the Kelly report.
