Lambeau Field - The NFL's very own Wembley Stadium 1:35pm on 12 Nov 2009 Is this a one-off are are you planning other commentaries - I think it would be good to mix occasional BBC commentaries with those from US broadcasters
PS Whoever you support, you have to respect the Green Bay Packers. The idea that a publicy owned, small town team can still survive (and thrive) in the NFL is almost incomprehensible, and yet it's true! It's wonderful that teams who are not run and resourced like the NY Yankees, Chelsea etc can compete in a big league, and this says as much about the NFL and its draft system as it does about the the Green Bay franchise. Anyway, let's hope they win another Superbowl soon.
Long live Autumn Sundays 5:27pm on 08 Sep 2009 Fab news about live NFL on the radio on Sunday nights. When 5live Sports Xtra was launched I wrote to the controller and suggested the station carry live games on Sundays but she rebuffed me saying that it was outside the station's mandate!
Well I'm glad things can change!
PS anyone else spend their teenage Sunday nights with a radio under the pillow a listening to live NFL games on the American Forces Network?

PS I stopped watching after Watson 3-putted 18, and, so I find out today, did many others. Only one person was ever going to win that play-off, and ultimately it was a dreadful anticlimax
Your choice has never been so difficult 1:28pm on 11 Nov 2008 How about using a 'strictly come dancing' format? Have the main show (do you remember when it was actually called 'Sports Review of the Year'?), then allow people to vote AFTER the show for a specified period of time, and then have a results show for the main award later on that evening (preferably) or the next day.

There are other sports for the media to cover apart from football. Let's have less of the overpaid Premiership prima donnas on our screens and more of the Olympic sports, so we can watch them develop towards 2012, so when the London games happen, it won't be the only time we've watched rowing/swimming/taekwondo etc in 4 years.

Instead we will all have some insight into the sport, and know the sportsmen and women who will be going for gold.
Goodnight Beijing 6:44pm on 24 Aug 2008 For all of you complaining about the BBC's coverage - just try following the Olympics in another country. Trust me you will all eat your words.

Whilst accepting that everyone has different tastes in presenters, I have to say that I thought the BBC did a great job and online/BBCi coverage in particular was brilliant, and so I was always able to catch up with stuff I missed, and was even able to watch the live feed at work (when no-one was looking!)

Some people seem to think he is the only one bleating on about how KP got out on 94, and yet it was Alec Stewart who really wnt ballistic - and in truth he had already predicted KP's crash-and-burn before it happened.

Anyway that's not why I wanted to contribute. Instead it was to say that I enjoyed reading seeingthefuture's comment - it took me back to 1981: for KP read Beefy and for Michael V read Mike B, Roll on the Ashes.

Michael Vaughan - very good captain, but like he said in his press conference today, the position probably comes with an expiry date. On present form he's not good enough to play in the team at present so here's hoping he recovers his best in future. I thought the fact that he chose to resign rather than be pushed, and the way he did it was very classy

As for the anti-Aggers stuff,leave it out chaps, he's a terrific commentator (ask any cricket follower in the rest of the world!), and is perfectly qualified to give his opinion as a ex-Test player blessed with significant but not vast amounts of talent. One of the mistakes people make is to think that great player= great coach or commentator. Not true. A lot of great players had so much natural talent they never had to question themsleves about technique etc, and as such are not usually the best people to communicate to others about what needs to be done. The best examples are in football- Ferguson, Shankly, Paisley, Wenger etc - good but not great players.

I acknowledge that Richie Benaud is a class act, and is the exception that proves the rule, but Bumble is a good example of good player, but even better coach/commentator.

Finally as for the captaincy, pick KP for one test BUT also pick Key and Read for the Oval, and then decide after that who is best suited to lead the team for the forseeable future.

PS anyone else agree that there are only 3 problems with the current Eng team - the batting, the bowling and the wicketkeeping?
