Changes to BBC Sport on the red button 4:35pm on 24 Oct 2009 @ wrustle

BBC 3/4 share space with CBBC/CBeebies so can't be used during the day.
BBC HD: Wimbledon and some Top Gear questions 11:53am on 06 Jul 2009 As benmoorhouse88 pointed out films such as the Ken Block one last night demonstrate why Top Gear should go HD.

Top Gear's big races are as cinematic as you can get usually with fantastic soundtrack imagine that in HD with DD 5.1 sound. The Polar Special was superb and showed conclusively that Top Gear only benefits from HD.

Top Gear (I doubt the BBC would want to acknowledge the fact even if the Top Gear team do) is constantly one of the most pirated TV shows in the world and should be a showcase. You are launching BBC HD internationally and a show that is a brand in it's own right would be a perfect fit.

If you do go HD ensure the budget is adjusted accordingly we don't want HD pictures but a reduction the production values to cover any increase in costs!

Entirely predictable and completely tedious much like peoples use of the term 'dumbing down' or trying to be the first to say a TV show has 'jumped the shark'. Very little to do with the reality just wanting to appear erudite and superior.

Perhaps a quick letter to points of view would be more suited...Dear BBC as a licence fee payer I feel it is a disgrace BLAH BLAH BLAH.
The chaos and thrills of a grand prix Sunday 12:24pm on 20 Apr 2009 Great weekend's coverage, really enjoyed it...the fluidity of you DC and MG moving up and down the pitlane and onto the grid works well. One minor thing get rid of the annoying beeps attached to the countdown clock...it's not 24!

Generally excellent coverage..

A few quick points.

1.) Change the mosaic to full-screen onboard.
2.) Consider taking the same feed as Premiere and some other broadcasters with graphics outside of the 4:3 safe area, it makes the screen so much less cluttered especially during practice/qualifying. I understand there are those without widescreen tv's or who don't like having a 'letterboxed' picture so how about his..on BBC One have the standard feed and on the red button the alternate one.
3.) Don't cut away from live action for interviews (e.g. Lewis during Q2) why not do picture in picture.
4.) Keep the pressure on Bernie/FOM to go HD or perhaps offer to do what Fuji TV do for their home GP and give us the British GP in HD.
5.) Always show the full press conference...it seemed the scheduling meant the post-qualifying reaction was very rushed...why not extend on the red button like the excellent post race forum

2 things from the weekend.

1.) Sort out the on-board mosaic, just go full screen like the website the current version is unwatchable.

2.) PLEASE consider using the feed that Premiere and other broadcasters are that has graphics outside the 4:3 safe area, especially during practice/quali where we are constantly having to peer through the current positions list to see the action.

I appreciate that people without widescreen TV's need graphics and would probably complain, so how about this...

On BBC One use the normal FOM world feed with graphics in the 4:3 safe area.
On the Red Button use the alternate feed.

Simple solution...
Looking forward to Melbourne 7:10pm on 06 Mar 2009 I would just like to add my voice to those who would like to see 'proper' highlights of these classic races. If they you only going show 5 minutes of highlights you might as well show all of the options!

Good to hear you 'will try to avoid competing with the engines' a pet hate of mine from ITV.

Looking forward to three weeks time for the best coverage we will have had (hopefully) since the demise of F1Digital+.

PS Try and persuade Bernie to release/sort out and HD feed (by 2010!) and also let you guys have the full data channel like he seems to for SKY Italia.

That's good to know, it's only right a British broadcaster should cover the Brits (just keep it in proportion).

I should say this is really good idea making use of the BBC's vast archive ESPN Classic has shown the odd 70s race, but I understand there are rights issues for later races and they (Bernie FOM) don't seem to like their content being put up on Youtube!

One final question on the excellent F1 Greatest Hits montage you've used Murray and Martin's commentary for races shown on ITV (before Murray retired) but 5 Live (Legard/Hamilton/Croft) for races since.

When we get to the recent additions to F1 calendar e.g. Malaysia, Bahrain (i.e. races that were covered by Allen/Brundle) which commentary will you use ITV/Five Live?

PS Don't feel obliged to put a Lewis choice in every vote. 2007 outside of the first corner was not an outstanding race.
