Strabane Live 1:35pm on 05 Nov 2009 Searching for Lisburn turns up a lot of Lisbon treaty references! Unavoidable really.

I know we are pretty densely represented in Northern Ireland, but put BT28 1XJ into the representative finder search on http://news.bbc.co.uk/democracylive/hi/representatives/index.stm and there's a definite feeling of overrepresentation! Looks like there are problems with some postcodes.

The speech to text is a great innovation - though it'll be fun finding more words and phrases that trip it up. Searching for "Lisburn" (a city ten miles south of Belfast) shows a lot of references to the "Treaty of Lisburn" - instead of Lisbon! Without the context, a human ear would struggle to differentiate between the two.

The video on the front page is impressive - good way to see who's working!
BBC Red Button Changes on Freeview 9:03pm on 27 Oct 2009 With Freeview bandwidth neutered, maybe FreeSat will get some development time to allow it to catch up with News Multiscreen and the niceties that other platforms have.

That's what struck me when I got home and was discussing the evening's events.

To encourage free thought, there's almost a dancing on pinheads to avoid pinning personal theological views to the donkey. Yet it is certainly a refreshing change from some believe-it-or-be-damned sermons in more traditional religious settings.

What does change in M&S returns policy tell us? 3:56pm on 29 Sep 2009 I bet over Christmas they'll adopt a more relaxed policy ...

When we got married some seven year ago, we too ended up with a number of doubles, as well as some unusual items too. One night I remember carrying them into the local M&S and dropping them down onto the customer services desk. A surprising number ended up no longer being listed on the online pricelist, causing much typing on the older computer terminal and giggles all round as the staff shared when then items had last been on sale. (Having no receipt, we usually we only got back the last "sale" price, which in some cases was 50p or a pound.)

But seven years ago, a refund was provided ... and quite obviously at some expense to M&S.
New resource for citizen journalists 8:30pm on 24 Sep 2009 Sounds like a positive development, and many of us will judge the proof of the pudding by studying what's made available rather than second guessing!

As a blogger, I'm not alone in learning some things the hard way - particularly when it comes to being challenged by well-paid press officers over stories or photographs they like. And while on a few occasions something that I've blogged about has been picked up by the main stream media, it's always interesting to see what they do with it, the different angles they take, the time they can invest in peeling back more layers to find further depth to a story or event I've only begun to scratch the surface of.

So go on ... impress us with this new resource!
