Resourceful Colly reaches landmark 11:58pm on 22 Nov 2009 Thank you South Africa! The English Team, all of course South African, show up the very inadequacies, that the English hide from.This is a pointless series of S.A.against S.A .Can some one explain the point of this exercise?
Competition hots up in Copenhagen 5:15pm on 01 Oct 2009 How can the International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge comment that 'a good transportation system' in light of the fact that London was awarded the honour last time round. Has anyone of the committee ever tried getting to the east end of London before they made that decision? Given the legacy of poor urban planing and all that goes with in UK, it is inevitable that London's arteries will clog up , events will be stalled etc. So why should it be a factor now?
Ferguson talk must please Man City 11:31pm on 19 Sep 2009 At the end of the day there is one main difference between these two teams-one has a manager with tactical acumen , intelligence, flair, ability, courage and dynamism. The other has Mark Hughes, surely the most inept,lifeless and clueless manager to ever grave the stage. he was out of his depth with Wales and Blackburn and the mix of money and luck will only last so long.Suffice to say he makes Sam Alladyce and Gary Megson seem like footballing geniuses.
Defoe makes case for England start 11:54pm on 06 Sep 2009 vic777-have i have to ask- seen the total incompetency that wes brown exhibits. the foolish backpasses, the wayward long balls, the sluggish pace,the poor positioning, the mistimed tackles. Everything about his game suggests pub team football. he almost makes Lescott seem like an average player and Lord knows the 2 of them together is indeed the bob hope and jerry lewis of football.amateur tosh.
Defoe makes case for England start 9:16pm on 06 Sep 2009 chakdey01-Wes Brown is without doubt the worst player in the football league. the fact that he can put on a Man U or England shirt without some measure of disbelief is beyond comprehension. he has created so many chances for the opposition that perhaps he should play for them.I find it unbelievable that his total lack of talent, creativity and positioning hasn't already been turned into a 'Wes Brown Vaudeville act" playing in Vegas and the West End. he is truly calamitous.The same applies really to Defoe-those on this post who support him are the fruits of blinkered Tottenham scribes so it really counts for nothing. He is truly talentless and more often than not a thorough embarrassment in front of goal -the fact that he is the leagues top scorer suggests more about the luck he is having (none of his goals have been truly instigated by his own talent) and the opposition switching off knowing he has the ball (generally that means there is not a lot happening when he has possession).
Defoe makes case for England start 7:46pm on 06 Sep 2009 Defoe scores from a deflected shot and suddenly he is the toast of strikers?! The reality is that Defoe is so seldom influential in any game that he is often he is just making up the numbers. He wastes enormous amounts of opportunities, he selfish when he should pass and shows a towersome amount of poor judgement and inability. My cocker spaniel, Tara,could score more often than Defoe and she isn't even in the squad.
What England should be equally concerned about is the sheer lack of talent in depth in this squad-Lescott, Upson,C.Cole,Carrick are all remarkably average performers playing poorly.Gerrard and Lampard again for the umpteenth time cannot play together and shouldn't ever again.The side seems no more fluid and flowing now than when Capello took over.
Manchester City making waves 9:09pm on 26 Aug 2009 All the money in the world doesnt create for you a good manager-Hughes is so utterly out of his depth in this that i cant see why the owners are unable to see it too. You could put the world's top 11 players in City colours and yet under Hughes they would turn into a hoof and run side with school boy tactics.With all that money, they turn to a man who created a dour and unattractive Blackburn side and a dreadfully poor and insipid Welsh national team.He has to go-forget the banners supporting the owners.Up with the 'Hughes Out Now' sign.
Strauss's England worthy winners 10:44pm on 23 Aug 2009 In the cold light of day, Broad is an incredibly average bowler who got lucky (and let us not forget it was only at the Oval he put in a good performance at last ! ) and Strauss is a dramatically indifferent captain not knowing what to do with his resources (he isn't a Brearley for sure-he got lucky, full stop). The next time England bat they are just as likely to get out for 92 as 908. This is a very average side making the most of a lull in the Ozzie cycle of class and dominance. All this drivel about dominance in the Ashes next time round is premature, unwelcome and unnecessary-a bit like the Ashes themselves. Is there remotely any need or interest in repeating the formula within 18 months -surely not ! this series is great every 4 years perhaps but as it stands it is only played as commercial fodder for an increasingly disinterested audience. And finally let us not forget the advance of English cricket-Trott and KP really have shown how deep the roots of English cricket talent are! Have we looked at anyone in Ghana or Nigeria perhaps as surely someone who knows nothing about cricket could bowl better than Harmison?
Reliving cricket's greatest rivalry 3:45pm on 08 Jul 2009 I dont think Australia and England is crickets greatest rivalry in the slightest.Just because it may be it's longest , it is ridiculous to suggest that this fact alone instills great competition.Have you ever witnessed a Pakistan/India game. There is no love lost and no quarter given.it is far more of an interesting and noisy spectacle than 22 men with zinc on their noses ambling around in the middle of a chilly English summers afternoon.
Owen worth Man Utd gamble 7:40pm on 03 Jul 2009 Given that no player of true class and quality now finds Manchester Utd or indeed the premiership as an attractive proposition, it is fair to say that Man Utds forward line will only be marginally more potent than Hull City or indeed Havant and Waterlooville.How quickly they have fallen down the pecking order of international desirability. Owen would have gone anywhere that will continue to pay him whilst he convalesses so it is sweet of Sir Alex to give him a bench to lie on as Lord knows as a striker he hasnt done anything remotely classy in 5 years.Another 2 years of living on his legacy and resting on his laurels from when he was 18.I think now is the time for Sir Alex to be put out to pasture-he has lost the plot and the confidence of all the remaining players(ie all those who couldnt get out of their contract or nobody else wanted)
