I see that was your first post, hopefully it will be your last.
One wonders why someone would open a blog called "England's High Hopes" and then be angry that it was about England?
Back to the Blog, how will altitude affect the other finalists? Do Brazil or Argentina play much at altitude? Their players nearly all play club football in Europe, so will this turn out to be the same for everyone anyway?

Are you going to do anything on tomorrow's World Cup draw? You haven't wangled a trip to Cape Town, obviously. Funny how FIFA chose Cape Town out of all the cities they could have gone to..

Whilst Fratton park was on paper the grottiest ground in the top flight, I always had a great time there, whether coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in the old second division, losing 4-0 when our only cheer was a missed Pompey penalty, losing 7-1 when being relegated, winning 5 (or was it 6)-1 after being 1-0 down in the cup. Never a dull moment and always a cracking atmosphere unlike Southampton's modern souless home. I used to park in St Mary's Hospital, and there was a cracking back street boozer (Meon Arms??) where a local baker would bring round fresh cooked pasties on a big cardboard tray around the bar. Brilliant.

This means Rooney will get ANOTHER Leeds shirt when he exchanges with Beckford after the game (although Beckford will get the Match Ball, of course.

Moyes & Everton face testing times 4:31pm on 30 Nov 2009 Well said to all those who've complained about yet another Liverpool/Everton blog.
What a surprise that the response from the arrogant Liverpool fans that this was the weekends biggest game! Everyone knows Arsenal Chelsea was the big game of the weekend, and as a neutral observer of the Premiership the most intriguing game was Villa Spurs. Here we had two of the teams likely to finish fourth going head to head with loads of English World Cup hopefuls on display. Much more interesting, better football, and better atmosphere than the turgid fare dished up by two failing clubs at a decrepit old stadium.

The Fry Up offered at our local hostelry is:
Two fried Eggs, Baked Beans,Hash Browns, Black Pudding, White Pudding, Grilled Tomato, Back Bacon, and sausage, along with two slices of toast and butter. Wash it down with a couple of pints of Guiness and you can be home before 10.00 am to do wahtever chores the wife has come up with!

Sorry but can't watch as I live abroad. Still at least the 5 hour time difference means I get to watch the Midday kick offs at breakfast time with a full fry up (including black and white puddings) with a swift couple of pints of Guiness down the pub, so life's not all bad!

Benitez under spotlight after Champions League exit 4:56pm on 25 Nov 2009 As a Leeds fan in my mid forties, I grew up hating Man Utd because although their team was for the most part pants at the time, their fans had an arrogance born of believing they had a divine right to be the top team. Over the last twenty years Man Utd have had teams and a style of play that backs up their fans attitude and who have been good to watch. Over the same period I have seen the Liverpool fans act exactly how Man Utd fans used to be in the seventies and eighties, and they have now replaced Man Utd in mine and a lot of other fans opinion as our least favourite team. Boring style of football, arrogant attitude, and full of excuses.
Benitez s in his SIXTH season, yet their highpoint was at the end of his first season, a highpoint achieved with a Gerard Houlier's team (apart from two out of the fourteen who played in Istanbul). When challenged over the money he's spent compared to Man Utd his excuse is always that Liverpool's squad was so bad that he needed to spend the money to try and get it up to the standard of Chelsea Man Utd and Arsenal. This was the same squad that was good enough to be the best in Europe and achieve his highpoint!
I can sort of understand the arrogance of Livepool fans, if you grow up having one of the best teams in Europe for nearly twenty years it must seem like that is the normal way of the world. What I don't understand is why Liverpool fans support Benitez? Boring cautious football, and five and a half years in, an unbalanced and uncompetitive squad that is probably worse overall than the one he inherited.
