Time to explore Singapore 1:22pm on 28 Sep 2009 Great blog Jake! Also the F1 forum on the red button is fantastic! Great to get a slightly more in depth and honest opinion from the F1 big wigs, as opposed to the censored, media friendly answers they normally have to give!
BBC Sport's fuel-adjusted Singapore GP grid 8:35pm on 26 Sep 2009 It's incredible to see Hamilton fuel adjusted 0.5 seconds quicker than the rest of the field, he's really on form this weekend. Heikki on the other hand really needs to pull his finger out or his McLaren seat could be going to the man who qualified P3, P2 fuel adjusted. If he can get 4th or higher from where he is, then it'll be a good weekend for him, anything lower and a replacement will be almost certainly lined up for next season come Monday, if it's not already!

Great weekend and the coverage did the event justice, I think everyone at home got a feel for how special Spa is.
Can anyone answer me this; Following Hungary Renault were given a 1 race suspension for "knowingly releasing car number seven from the pit stop position without one of the retaining devices for the wheel-nuts being securely in position" and that "being aware of this, Renault failed to take any action to prevent the car from leaving the pit lane... and failed to inform the driver of this problem or to advise him to take appropriate action given the circumstances". In a nutshell, Renault knew they had a problem with the car and still allowed Alonso to continue racing. (I am of course aware the ban was overturned.) How was this incident any worse or any more dangerous than Barichello having blue smoke streaming from his engine in the closing stages of the race? Brawn knew there was a problem and instead of getting him to pull over, they told him to nurse the car home and hold position, but surely with that much smoke coming from the engine, there was a huge danger of the car becoming engulfed in flames and endangering the cars around him? Is there really a difference between the incidents?
My Belgian Grand Prix predictions 11:16am on 29 Aug 2009 I know Seb Vettel is still considered a title contender, but he has to make up 27 points to catch Button. If I was Seb, I'd be more concerned with holding off Hamilton who is only 20 points adrift. Lets face it Hamilton is more likely to make up a 20 point gap than Vettel is a 27 point one. Red Bull, get behind Webber or say goodbye to your title hopes!
Ted Kravitz - the European GP from the pit lane 2:22pm on 26 Aug 2009 Great article Ted, I'm glad someone in the media has finally pointed out to the public that Brawn would've beaten McLaren regardless of the botched pit stop. I was trying until I was blue in the face to explain to people that after Hamilton's fuel hose came off (by which time the tyres are usually ready) it took a further five seconds to get the tyres on, and when the second round of pit stops were over, Barichello had more than a 6 second lead. So either way Lewis was coming out behind Rubens. Add to that the fact that Brawn brought him in three laps early, as you've pointed out, and that he was the fastest qualifier taking weight into account, they were always going to catch Hamilton.
McLaren should be very happy with the turnaround though, second and fourth is a pretty good result and shows that Hamilton and hopefully Heikki will have a big say in who takes the title this year.

Ramps for The Oval? 6:38pm on 12 Aug 2009 That side looks good! I am still baffled by the fact that it's taken the selectors until the last test to even consider a replacement for Bopara. Yes he was good heading into the series, great even, but once milk goes sour you stop drinking it, right? Well Bopara has gone very sour indeed.
Bell should have come in for the third test then we might have seen the Bell we've seen for Warwickshire.
But regardless of all this speculation, and who should play instead of who, I think the main difference from 2005 to now goes by the name of Marcus Trescothick. With Tresco opening with Strauss and Cook in the 3 position where he scored centuries for fun, I think our middle order would've been much less flimsy and we would've seen a batting force to be reckoned with. Am I wrong?
Relishing Schumacher's return 10:17am on 30 Jul 2009 I know all the talk is of Rosberg taking Kovalainen's seat at McLaren next season, but surely now we've got to look at the prospect of Kubica, and one of Raikonnen and Massa as well, provided Kovy doesn't do enough to keep that seat? When can we speculate properly about driving line ups for next season?
BBC Sport's fuel-adjusted Hungarian GP grid 03:28am on 26 Jul 2009 #7 i think what happened was some reporter may have on the grape vine heard 'Massa' and 'life-threatening' in the same sentence, and that's been misconstrued to mean that he's being read the last rites. Official reports are he's stable and will be woken up tomorrow.
