Time to tell Fergie to ref off! 11:19am on 10 Nov 2009 plf said the standard of refereeing in the E.P.L.this season must be bordering on the worst in Europe

Would strongly disagree with this comment, I watch a lot of Bundesliga games and they can be equally good and bad. Again we are only criticising when it goes against your club. Do we ever applaud the good decisions eg the advantage rule, trouble is when we lose the ball we complain to the ref for playing advantage. The ref cant win

Time to tell Fergie to ref off! 10:40am on 10 Nov 2009 I do have a lot of sympathy with referees(I was a club linesman a long time ago).They are the people who make the decisions. They cannot always be perfect, but then name one player( or even a manager) who is perfect.
A referee has only 2 pairs of eyes including the linesman. We have several pairs of eyes eg camera angles.
Lets say Walton was 5yds to his right, rather than being almost behind Carlsey and Ngog, he then might not have given the pen last night. The ref is not always going to be in the right place.
Now if SAF and others want to improve the situation rather than complaining about every single decision when you lose, would he suggest the NFL route of the coach being able to appeal a decision,using a video replay. You have 3 chances to appeal, if succesful you retain the appeal, if unsuccesful you lose. If such a system was ever introduced, I'm sure SAF and his other gobby protege mangers, and others would lose all their appeals within minutes
The rights to highlight 2:52pm on 05 Aug 2009 It still irks me that it states on the website for UK users only. As a RUFC fan , currently working in Germany, and pay my TV licence at home in the UK and here, I still miss out on the replays on the web or iPlayer
Can men be trusted to run things on their own? 09:55am on 04 Aug 2009 First time I've visited this page since Maggies daughter got turfed out.
HH's views are crazy, positions should be achieved on merit. What I find disappointing are the views on Maggies premiership, when one can equally apply the same comments, or worse, to Smiler Blair and Crash Gordon.
I would also admit there are things I cant do, somethings my wifecant do, therefore we share responsibilty, although my biggest admission would be I cant cook(beyound a boiled egg etc)
Why can't Brits behave abroad? 09:45am on 23 Jul 2009 I dont think the Brtish drink culture needs to be discouraged but rather changed, be more responsible. Neither do I believe either the Govt or drink companies are to blame. Beer and all other types of drink are sold everywhere, but why is there a need to attain drunkenness or leglessness as quickly as possible.
I work in Hamburg, and I see the same the same problem most weekends. Brit groups arrive, rucksack into the hotel or wherever then hit the bars fast. So when most Germans(not all, its not perfect) are still partying late into the night and early morning, Brits stand out as drunken visitors

I would disagree with you 100% re the German economy. I work in Hamburg and do not see anything like the economic crisis we have in the UK. Yes, there are certain problems(eg Karstadt and their owners, equivalent of John Lewis, but much bigger), but Mr Prudence could have learnt a lot from Germany and others in Europe, but no he was part instigator for this mess and self-declares he will clear it up as leader of the financial world - yeah right!!!!

I can only say that here in Germany, I subscribe to Premiere(similar to SKY) for which I get all Bundesliga I & II live, plus upto 3 or 4 EPL & La Liga. The german games are usually spread over Fri to Mon so that I and II dont clash. At least one game per week is shown on a terrestrial channel. Also highlights are usually available for editing on land channels for eary evening transmission
Relyin' on Ryan 09:31am on 28 Apr 2009 As a neutral fan, I would say to the Pool Reds on here, get a grip, you're way over the top, you have played very well at times, but, just like CFC, inconsistent with poor draws against lower teams, who had discovered how to keep you at bay.
As for MU fans, dont gloat to much if you win, even your wins at times have been a struggle, and its only recently that CR and DB decided to take part fully in a game, compare that to the non stop of running of Rooney and Tevez
Remember football is a great game whether you are a neutral or fanatical, EPL or CH, C1, or C2.

disagree with your comments about linesmen and offsides, even tho the standard could be higher. You try looking in 2 different directions at the moment a ball is played, lets say from just inside the attacking half to near the penalty area, its only a split second to see and judge. As a former club linesman in a much lower league, I was to proud to receive a league award at the end of the season, even tho I took c**p from my own teams defenders, but then, even they congratulated me.

#76 jellery, Agree entirely with your first para. Then maybe there is a time for some form of video replay,most sports do have it in some form cricket,RU, RL, NFL, NHL. Provided the time taken to review is minimal, say 1 min at most, the correct decision can be reached, you have only 2 or 3 chances to appeal, if you win you retain you chances to appeal, if you lose, you lose

Hats off to Luton after Wembley thriller 07:56am on 06 Apr 2009 Congrats to Luton, that was an excellent achievement especially under present circumstances, and as a Rotherham fan, I appreciate the comment in #14.
In light of our present position, and without the points deductions, we would be in automatic 2nd promtion spot. The season is not over yet, but do you think that Mark Robins could be considered as a candidate for D2 Manager of the season.
I know the above is a diversion from the main thread, but once again well done Luton Town
