Went to the Scotland v Lebanon match the day after watching Eng v Aus on the tv. Looked about twice as slow, but the conditions must have played a part. Are the French the best bet to make up the extra place in 2011 and not embarrass themselves?

Really looking forward to the game tomorrow, if only to try and wipe the memories of the 2004 game from my mind. I must admit, I got caught up in the hype before that one. Just hope they keep the head if (when?) they lose a try as if they lose tries in clusters (2 weeks ago, Leeds v Manly) it is almost impossible to come back from.

Having read JL's blog on the BBC, I have no doubt's he will be equally entertaining. Rodney Hogg however has been awful in the BBC news on the morning of the tests, so myopic he makes Bill Lawry sound like Ghandi.

Battle for 2015 11:19am on 28 Jul 2009 Sounds like a petty reason for Scotland to vote for South Africa, given their inability to produce full houses for the two games they did get at Murrayfield for 2007 WC (calculated and thinly veiled policy of fielding 2nd string against AB's being the main shameful reason for this).
Turned off by the girl power 11:55am on 02 Jul 2009 scottishmakem - nope, never happened. This is a fallacy, kept going by scots with a chip on their shoulder. It's the same as the criticism of english commentators, as if the guys on BBC Scotland are any better when it comes to our national team.

Do you think abstinence from alcohol significantly improves your fitness and performance or is it merely a personal decision? And do you despair at other sports figures in Scotlands inability to sensibly mix (if it's possible) professional sport and drinking?

England player ratings 3:57pm on 18 May 2009 I think the ratings are for this test alone and not the series. Agree with those above, Cook deserved a nine for his 160.
