How on earth can you work that out Phil?

What is a player worth? The amount the other team is willing to pay? What is the going rate for an established, centre half with premier league experience and a strong mentality together with speed, strength and an eye for a goal.

How far behind Rio do you think Lescott is?

I think this is top business by City. Everton will struggle to replace Lescott.

I'm a hardcore Liverpool fan. City are on the up. That can be seen. I am not jealous, or envious with regards to their financial clout. It is what it is.

Disagree.

Arsenal have missed Hleb regardless of the impact he has made at Barcelona. Surely no one expected Hleb to be a regular.

Arsenal don't have the funds nor the strategy to be in there as contenders. They are the most inconsistent out of the top 4.

I don't believe Arsenal have the resources to compensate and the cash for this deal is going straight to paying off the debts.

Forget about Arsenal as contenders.

People are in dream land.

Rafa can see it. I only wanted him at Liverpool for sentimental reasons. What signs are there in the last three years that Owen has the attributes to be top echelon.

Think about the top guys, Torres, Drogba, Berbatov, Rooney, Van Persie.... Owen's name no longer fits with those guys.

He is now second tier. There is no getting away from that.

Fair response.

My view is this.

I'd take Owen back at Liverpool at a support striker and because he's played for us in the past. From Rafa's perspective though I get it and understand that I am being a bit sentimental. We have moved on. The game has moved on and deep down we all know Owen is not the player he once was and not at the level of Torres, Bebatov, Drogba, Van Persie et al.....

Most sensible punters reckoned Everton and Aston Villa was a level too high, so much so that Hull and Stoke were seriously considered suitable destinations.

Now we're being told that because Ferguson is interested that Owen is suddenly a top player again. Pull the other one.

Some inconsistencies Phil.

My opinion is he is worth the gamble. I'd wish we would take him back at Liverpool.

The truth is very simple. Ronaldo doesn't want to be at United. It is that simple.
