Hughes harshly treated by Man City 4:39pm on 20 Dec 2009 Yeah, poor footy mangers getting 15 million quid pay offs. When I was made redundant after 18 months in a job I got zilch. His signings were scatter gun, his pronouncements concerning players at other clubs was nauseating, his pursuit of Lescott indecent, Kaka embarrassing. He's assembled a team of butterflies, pleasing on the eye but fragile and unpredictable. Expect to see him soon at Middlesboro or Blackburn. Perhaps he wanted to be sacked, a la Sven, it's more lucrative than success.

Anyway, Gerrard had a nightmare game(Lpool beat man u cos he didn't play!!) yesterday, he played like he was in mourning and Benitez played Aurelio to deny Everton any width, which worked. We've all seen enough football to realise that games can be won and lost on small details(such as beach balls. yes, the Fellaini miss was key, but in that case, so was Howards miraculous save from Insuas header. 0-2 HT game over.
I'd still take Liverpool for 3rd, and Reina is the reason why. Him, VDS and Cech are streets ahead of Gomez, Friedel and Given. It's not so long ago that this team thrashed Utd at OT and with a fit Torres there's no reason they can't do it again this season. Vidic is still having nightmares according to his wife.
Spurs show top four style 04:29am on 30 Nov 2009 Spurs have improved under Redknapp and a top 4 place is a possibility. However, much like Arsenal,I think they need to strengthen their defence and goalkeeper to be considered serious candidates. Pundits love to talk about where the goals are going to come from but stopping them is of even more importance as Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal have, so far, failed to do. Conceding in excess of a goal a game is not a recipe for success.Premiership success is built on a solid back 5, not a myriad of attacking options. For this reason, Chelsea will be champions and United runners up, Liverpool will be third and the other place is up for grabs with Arsenal the favourites.

Man City will regret lack of ambition 5:05pm on 22 Nov 2009 Ironic that a former centre forward sets his teams up like a centre half. It would be nice if City drew with Hull next week so they could be mentioned in the same breath as Norwich but I expect they'll thump them. Hughes has got too many hang ups that get in the way of him picking his best team and that is a character trait that will doom him to managerial mediocrity, a la B Robson, now managing? here in Thailand.
The SFA should sacrifice their blazers 12:46pm on 22 Nov 2009 My frustration at the monopoly control that the associations have over football has been increasing for some time. It's about time fans were represented at FA"s. One million paying customers every week is one hell of a pressure group. How about some sort of fans union that would police FIFA and the FA's? An organised football supporters union would have a powerful voice in the game and would serve to counter the entirely commercial interests of the clubs and FA's. Most fan's just love the game for what it is not the money and the closed shop politics. Fan ownership should be compulsory then the associations could be brought to book.
Triesman on trial as England expects 3:43pm on 17 Nov 2009 Personally, I wouldn't waste time bowing and scraping to FIFA delegates. If we can't have it without the politics, do we really want it? Not a massive 'Keano' fan, but 'clown' is actually being nice about people like Warner. It's time there was more representation within associations from normal everyday fans. Football doesn't belong to FIFA and big business, because if there were no money from paying fans they wouldn't be interested. Football is the peoples game and it should be returned to them.Fan ownership should be compulsory and fans should be represented on FA boards. Forget the politicians, lets get our game back.
Sports socks - three pairs for a pound! 06:12am on 15 Nov 2009 Some people don't seem to understand the modern economics of football. What is irrelevant is fans travelling to away games as the visiting side don't benefit from the gate. The issue is TV money and the only way to up that for the OF is to increase the quality of the opposition. With home gates of 56,000 on average, Celtic don't need to worry about income from games but they do need a substantial TV deal to be able to compete at a European level and with the quality of the opposition at the moment that's never going to happen.

Travel fatigue is also irrelevant. A flight from Glasgow to the Netherlands or Portugal takes a shorter time than a coach journey down to Manchester or Liverpool. As for different time zones? How funny, it's not Asia! It's a maximum of 2 hours difference, watch out for jet lag!!
