Who deserves a New Year's Honour? 10:35pm on 26 Nov 2009 norman: as far as I understand by the rules set up somewhere, the award can't be given to a BBC employee - though I am sure they each deserve some recognition.

Let's see, shall we? 'cite' : "to mention in support, proof, or confirmation; refer to as an example" (which is precisely the way in which I used the word)

and

'anticipate' : "to realise beforehand; foretaste or foresee; (and) to expect; look forward to; be sure of" (which is also how I used the word).

So I'm wrong where exactly? Quite sure you wont point it out because, just as in Richard's example, you can't. Whenever I am wrong I do admit it. Oh and by the way, that's 'you're' with an apostrophe.

I have no need to apologise to Looternite. If he chooses to engage in a debate with me then that's what he'll get.

You can look up 'cite' and 'anticipate' if you need to check their meanings. My use of them is perfectly correct.

I presume the "posts" you reviewed are from the PM Glass Box for 19 November? It might be worth highlighting, for Richard's benefit, that during the course of that long discussion both Big Sister and Lucien Desgai acted as 'peace-makers' - contrary to his claims above.

You will also note that Richard's posts are nearly all attacking me and frequently offensive.

If it is the same thread, I was totally unaware that I was "hurting someone's feelings". If people make what I consider to be rather silly comments and I challenge them I anticipate an adult response and, when appropriate, an apology. Not for them to mount a defence of 'this is all happening - not because what I said was foolish - but because I'm working class'.

You say my "remarks seem to me out of proportion, unfair and highly unpleasant" - I can't comment on this unless you would kindly site an example.
