Benitez must blank out Ferguson 00:12am on 19 May 2009 Can somebody please produce the interviews where Ferguson congratulated Kenny Dalglish and George Graham during his first 6 years in charge?
Because I can produce countless after-match interviews where he openly complained about pro-Liverpool bias in officiating, the FA, the media... even going so far as to say the pundits at the BBC where "all there, all there waving their Liverpool flags."
Let's not forget he wanted to "knock Liverpool off their perch" (said with venom)... lots of respect there.
You see the problem once again with 99% of the posts here is selective memory, or a knowledge of football that begins in 1992.
Our club owes Ferguson absolutely nothing...he's hated us since we destroyed Aberdeen 4-0 in 1980 and we've hated him since his whingeing to King Kenny in 1989.
As for his 'congratulations' letters[sic]... anybody who can't see through the arrogance of that rubbish is a bigger fool than most.
Well done to Man Utd, worthy Champions.

I'm sure you'd also give an equally damning verdict on that inveterate complainer, Mr Peter Shilton, whose goalkeeping skills might arguably and reasonably be in the all-time World XXII, if not the all-time World XI, who is seen in video footage at the time remonstrating verbally with the referee, gesticulating towards a hand and generally giving the impression that he hadn't dedicated his life to footballing excellence only to be cheated on the biggest stage of all through no fault of his own.........

I could atleast understand that sort of tripe if it came from an Arsenal fan or Chelsea fan, but coming from a club that has won nothing in two decades, it seems a little rich berating other clubs' success.

2: The World Club Cup [sic] is a nothing tournament that has been a source of comedy for top clubs for decades. You lot have decided it is now a credible tournament (Good Stretford Enders aside who are suitably embarrassed). Liverpool fielded a reserve side on every occasion we qualified, it was dismissed as an annoyance by Bob Paisley specifically.

Liverpool have 'the Big Mo' 09:37am on 23 Mar 2009 Have to say it is highly amusing listening to the nervous Manchester United fans... their boasts and false confidence are betrayed by the fact they are very publicly 'having a wobble'.

Liverpool on the other hand are the epitome of calm at the business end of the season. There is no expectation on us and most decent reds would be impressed with 2nd place. We essentially have nothing to lose and everything to gain... how dangerous this makes us is a matter of opinion.

In closing, I would suggest United ditch the ridiculous "Champions of the World" tag... it's an embarrassment and only provides comedy for real football fans who know that the competition is less credible than the Carling Cup.

Would armchair fan be more appropriate bearing in mind how defensive you are about my home-town point.

I happen to believe you should support your home-town team and the relationship between local fans and the club is something that cannot be replicated by people from outside... as dedicated and passionate as they can be.

No hard feelings because I'm past getting having pointless web-based arguments, but I bet we'd have a cracking verbal set-too.

You base your opinion of my knowledge, fairness and attitude towards fans on what... my last couple of responses.

Click my name and you will see I can be very fair... I'm just old-fashioned and pine for the pre-Richard Keys era.

Think what you like of me mate... but know this, I've seen Liverpool win everything and know for sure that nothing lasts forever.... lets see how cocky United fans are in 5 years.

For all we know City could be on for the Quintuple... put that in your pipe!!!

I don't give a monkeys whether you think it's a bigotted opinion... I am not in the least bit interested in any glory-hunting, shirt-swapping, post-Sky TV, Jonny-come-lately's who decided that they suddenly loved football because they fancied Lee Sharpe!!!!

Essentially about 50% of Mun Utd's support since te inception of the Premiership... it's an embarrassment, just ask Roy Keane.

Thanks for the reply... I see the Robson analogy to a certain extent, but I believe we've won far more games than people realise without Gerrard. He is a talisman though.

I heard a great point earlier that nearly all (possibly all) the Champions in the last 20 years following Liverpool's dominance have finished 2nd before winning the league.

Did Arsenal, Manchester United, Blackburn, Chelsea... all finish 2nd before a significant league title? It would also imply, and I fully agree, that 4th to 1st is a massive, massive jump in achievement and perhaps a bridge too far... maybe 2nd would be healthier for our future.

To those armchair fans I offended, I won't retract my statement... but I will admit I was aiming more at the overseas United fans who come on here talking abject fanboy claptrap... "luckypool" this and "MU" that... basically any fan who calls the league the EPL!!!!!

I really am 100% uninterested in the view of a fan who jumped on the Peter Kenyon driven Asia bandwagon... their opinions are generally garbage.
