Should students pay our bills? 5:38pm on 21 Sep 2009 The older generation had bettter hope that the youg'uns don't wake up and realise they have been sadled with at least 2 generations of debt or its going to be intergenerational war... keep borrowing today... the kids will pay... still at least your intergenerational house price ponzi scheme has collapsed... still they are only robbing the future... every indentured debt graduate will become a lead weigth on the public purse when they leave this cursed society for kleptocratic spivs which created it.

this is insane.. another insane idea designed to anhialate lending to small/medium companies....

and what about equity... is the government going to guarentee that with my money ? how far down the capital structure will they go...

wait a go improve the credit rating of us all though CDS spreads 200+ here we come...

economists commented:
"they might as well have put our money on deposit at Icesave and least it might have been better protected there"

What you and many neo-Keynsian Policymakers don't get is that by seeking to control the monetary supply you have destroyed the very apparatus which has been used to control it in the past the paradox of glutony has given way at last to the paradox of thrift. even if the banks were able to lend there is no doubt that they would be less likely to find any willing borrowers. consider your own gilt edged bbc credit cards are you likely to run them up to the max now the economy is imploding ? we are already deep in a liquidity trap and the answer is not more drugs. they just make the patient worse... going cold turkey will be painful but its the only medicine which will work.
