Nope. Benitez is getting the players he thinks can perform multiple roles. He is teaching Torres to be target man, playmaker, speedster combined. The same with Ngog, who is young but can be a hell of a player judging from his all round attributes shown last season. Owen meanwhile, doesnt have pace and doesnt play the target man, although he can finish perfectly well and will at man u.

inform yourself. young players knocking on liverpools door and playing for us are lucas, ngog, insua, spearing, darby, kelly and now hammil as well. and btw...insua is better then both the silva twins.
Brazil's Confederations Cup dilemma 6:28pm on 14 Jun 2009 good blog. about the world cup, more teams may have defended against them but still - surely ronaldinio, robinho, adriano, kaka could find a way through. they could all crack open a defence by themselves, let alone as a quintet. but it just didnt work out. plus, against brazil zidane was magnificent, won it for them by himself.
Cech gives Chelsea final hope 11:02am on 29 Apr 2009 strange game. chelsea defended well, no doubt. but barce still shouldve won. eto, hleb had great chances, henry probably shouldve had a penalty to be honest. and bojan...that is why he doesnt start. what a miss. kindof reminds me of arsenal against ac milan last year actually.

if chelsea can remain compact while getting ballack, lampard, malouda and drogba forward, then they can score, but they needed an away goal at camp nou. they really did. barca can open them up even at stamford bridge, and they werent even that good last night.
personally i found it fascinating. the movement as barca tried to unlock chelsea was great, chelseas defending movement was better. but at the same time, tactically, barca had no plan b other then smashing messi, eto and co into the brick wall that was the middle of chelseas defence. they shoulve have used alves more- when messi moved off the right and bosingwa followed him, barca shouldve been hitting alves and the space he was in - constantly he had space but wasnt found, and when he was, he found bojan 2 yards out who sco- oh wait, no he didnt score.

itll be interesting as to what guardiola does for the next leg. im not worried about their defenders- barca defend as a team, but will they exploit alves more? more interestingly, ashley cole is back - will he be used over bosingwa?

personally, cant wait for next week.
Pellegrini finds right blend for Villarreal 3:53pm on 06 Apr 2009 14: there are lots of young progressing english players. the under 21's just lost a two year unbeaten streak to france because they played very much under par and were without key players. everton have gosling, rodwell, baxter, vaughn, loads of youngsters. liverpool have extremely talented under 16's and under 18's: not one under 16 was let go, all will go on to the under 18 squad and have been offered pro contracts. not to mention spearing and darby who have made impressive appearances this season. man u have welbeck, evans, etc. villa agbonlahor, delfoneso among others. thats barely getting started.

we have lots of talented youngsters. the trouble is they are very much against the world.
Messi emerges from Maradona's shadow 09:36am on 30 Mar 2009 imo, that formation wont work against stronger international teams - gago can be isolated and picked off, and mascherano attacking threat is limited at best. simply too much space in the midfield and a narrow defence can control that front three. but, of course, messi being there is somewhat of an upperhand for argentina against...well...every team in the world.

truely a scary prospect for any defence, the boy. with tevez and aguero drawing attackers, if this is the formation they use, it could break games.
id put them as second favorites for the world cup. spain first.

Capello determined to tame Spain 2:57pm on 10 Feb 2009 england have a chance, but only a chance. if jagielka gets played by capello, he can take care of torres, and that leaves JT or Ferdinand on Villa.
I think well be able to punish them the other side of the pitch, but the wingers are going to have to beat their players- luckily, we have a clutch of wingers who i have faith in to beat the man.
in midfield we can stand up to them- carrick on his day is every bit as good as xavi, and barry is capable against anyone he plays.

it could come down to beckhams crosses, or perhaps agbonlahors influence, but if we give them a game ill be pleased to be honest.
Capello shows the Midas touch 4:11pm on 21 Nov 2008 great performance, and someone i wanted to point out in darren bent. yes i know he missed. but the run, and pass from barry was top quality, and if his standing foot hadnt gone, that game is over. i have been waiting for a striker like him for a while. owen doesn't really have the speed, walcott is still primarily a winger, and rooney doesnt make forward runs, rather tries to attack the defence from in front. bent is just the kind of direct striker we need.

sorry, thats bs. portugal, argentina, france. all have failed in tournaments they were favorites in because they had no ball to win the game. england dont have inferior chracteristics, they have different ones which can bring about a different result.

as for wenger...nice youngsters, but all around england there are good youngsters who are begging to be released on the carling cup, i kid you not. liverpol, man u, chelsea also have youngsters who can impact on the international stage. as do man city and west ham from what i can see. well see in time who grows to become the best. cant exactly write off those at arsenal though can you?
