What is PIPs? 6:03pm on 19 Feb 2009 @FrankieRoberto The EPG for linear platforms comes directly from Red Bee, not from PIPs. Due to the constraints on traditional linear EPGs it's a simpler set of data that doesn't include the extra information we hold, such as a full programme hierarchy, longer synopses, channel branding, images, related links, promoted items and so on. It's also transmission rather than programme centric.

@atrisse Metadata is "data about data". In the case of TV and Radio programmes it means the data that describes programmes, such as titles, synopses, genres, broadcast times, iPlayer availability etc.

I've talked to the people from Nations and Regions and they've said that they will look into the possibility of offering the regional variations of the schedules.

The schedules that have been made available are the same as what was in What's On and relate to the single variant of the station that is available to listen to online.

Related links are already there for some programmes. We're working to increase the number and types of links on the pages over the next couple of months.

Keep your eyes peeled. Getting the archive into PIPs and onto /programmes is non-trivial, but we are working on it.

Shapes of things to come 9:42pm on 23 Apr 2008 I'd argue that the versions in PIPs are also editorial, but you do have to careful how they are exposed in audience facing UIs.

We have to flatten production versions to create the audience facing ones (signed, shortened, etc).
Shapes of things to come 10:28pm on 22 Apr 2008 Whilst they initially look like three separate things, brands, series and episodes are all editorial grouping constructs that have pretty much the same metadata.

This is also the approach taken by TV-Anytime, where what we call brands, series and episodes are represented by GroupInformation elements of type show, series and programConcept.
