Vaz v Watson - Modern Warfare 2 10:27am on 10 Nov 2009 I'm avoiding the game not because of the content but the "consolification" (yes, I just made the word up) of the PC version especially the lack of dedicated servers (9v9 game hosted on a gamer's PC? - no thanks), inability to make mods, maps* (some of the best games I've played have been using maps created by the community) and tweaking the settings which are the mainstays of PC gaming.

* which no doubt will ensure that PC players will have to pay for DLC (downloadable content) made by IW to extend the game, just like console gamers have to put up with already.

Can Virgin satisfy the need for speed? 09:43am on 18 Feb 2009 For taking advantage of a fast connection when the device you want to use is not in the same room as your internet connection - how about using HomePlug AV adapters as an alternative to 802.11n or trailing ethernet cable between rooms?

The adapters are more expensive but I've found them more reliable than wi-fi connection and get very fast speeds when streaming HD video between the my attic gaming/home cinema room and the lounge 3 flights of stairs down.

'Addicted' to Warcraft? 11:13am on 14 Nov 2008 A former classmate and a friend of a friend first his job to WoW, constantly phoning in sick so he could play it and had to have his meals brought to him at his computer by his wife as he was constantly raiding to get his epic gear.

His wife attempted to engage with him more by signing up for the game herself, even though she had no interest in it, but that didn't really work out.

When she eventually demanded that he spent more time with her and their two young children and less with the game he became violent towards her.

Thus ended their marriage.

On the happy side, he managed did manage to get his complete epic set eventually.
UK stops listening, starts playing 3:33pm on 05 Nov 2008 I'm definitely not buying as much music as I used to compared to games, but I still stick to physical media for my music purchases.
Surfing the election 12:28pm on 05 Nov 2008 My favourite general election night was when they simply played a very long Omnibus special called Video Jukebox which was presented by John Peel & John Walters (RIP the pair of them) charting the history of music videos and the results appeared in text form along the bottom during the night.

Fuel help thinking 2:26pm on 05 Sep 2008 It's all very well trying to get us to lag our lofts and get cavity insulation, but my house was built in 1885 and doesn't have cavities to fill.

Why do energy savings grants with regard to insulating walls ignore those of us in this situation?
