He is the leading run scorer in all cricket, has chipped in with vital wickets and has taken more catches than some wicket keepers this season! A blind spot on the selection process here I think
Farce at Edgbaston 5:19pm on 20 Jun 2008 Yes, farcical indeed. The umpires are not totally blameless though. They allowed England to bowl a ridiculously slow over rate which was plainly aimed at killing time until the rain came. Stopping this was in the umpire’s control. The thing that has turned me away from cricket is this slow over rate which, as a paying fan, I can only interpret as contempt towards the public from the players.
Cash, bang, wallets! 3:44pm on 14 Jun 2008 I'm afraid Agnew's so anti Twenty20 he is losing his objectivity as a reporter. He keeps banging on about preserving the preminence of test cricket but people vote with their wallets. Wake up and smell the coffee Aggers!
Exciting times - but dangerous too 5:24pm on 28 Apr 2008 Aggers says 'It (Twenty20) commands nothing like the depth or enduring interest of test cricket....' But I ask enduring to whom? So many Test Matches are played these days to near empty stadiums and it's obvious that test Cricket has to turn this 'enduring interest' into bums on seats to survive. Otherwise it will be preserved in a museum - perhaps where it belongs in the 21st century!
