BBC HD: Autumn Schedule 10:54am on 13 Sep 2009 Danielle - Sorry if this is the wrong place, but you really must get someone competent to look after the technical side of your HD outside broadcasts.

Throughout this Proms season, your HD broadcasts have been great only to be let down with the DD surround sound on the last night. Your team no doubt noticed the multiple sound glitches throughout both halves.

The only thing that can be said is that the overall sound reliability was much better than previous years only to be spoilt at the last hurdle.

Are there not any sanctions you can make on whoever provided the technical facilities like not paying them?

Despite the above, you still have a great channel so keep up the good work.

Happy Birthday BBC HD 09:37am on 10 Dec 2008 Danielle - Just a big thank you for your efforts for the short time you have been with the channel, not least by reducing or removing the impact of the horrible DOG.

A repeat of the memorable Nigel Kennedy PROM would not go amiss as it was ruined in HD by a Peak White DOG along with other programmes for that evening.

The programmes over Christmas look good so keep up the good work in 2009.

BBC HD: DOGs Update 4:51pm on 28 Nov 2008 Danielle - Just to say thank you for the GREAT improvement in the DOG situation on BBC HD you have made.

It is great to be able to watch particularly drama and films without the unnecessary intrusion and have no problem with the reduced level on documentaries.

The only additional exemptions which would be good are music programmes like the PROM's transmission where currently, even BBC FOUR removes it. The backgrounds tend to be dark so the DOG will shine through, even at the reduced level.

BBC HD: DOGs Update 01:14am on 22 Oct 2008 Danielle - May I congratulate you on what seems a very sensible compromise. I have been one of the most vehement critics of the BBC Four and BBC HD dog for drama and films and music.

On BBC Four, they have been very inconsistent and particularly for drama and films, could not be relied on to always turn it off. To be fair BBC Four did remember for all their Proms 2008 broadcasts this year.

For BBC HD, I’m afraid that although your quality is suburb, I was one of the one that watched your Proms broadcast on BBC Two/One and the same for your dramas like the Tudors and Cranford. When I think of all the money that go into making drams authentic, to spoil it with a LOGO was sacrilege. I have never watched BBC Three since they permanently introduced their garish pink LOGO for everything.

For other programs like news and documentaries, your compromise seems a good one and you have my respect for not spouting the previous nonsense. At one time BBC Four justified theirs because a viewer had complained there was not enough music on the channel.

Thank you again as it seems a breath of fresh air is going into your thinking and not the usual BBC culture that 'we know best'.

BBC HDTV: "The BBC's Bold Trial Of Reverse Karaoke!" 1:05pm on 19 Jul 2008 Thanks Andy for your most interesting and informative Blog and for being so candid.

We expect problems on a new service and thought 2 years would have been enough to solve the obviously difficult interface problems and it is good to know that a full professional service will be fully operational from August.

One of the most aggravating things from all this is not from your department but presentation. The song contest is a good example in that through all the severe trials and tribulations, no on screen messages, no announcement, no apology, no nothing leaving the impression that the BBC could not care less and the viewer will take what they are given. They partly redeemed themselves during the Euro 2008 thunderstorm break.

The 2008 Proms HD audio started true to form but fortunately this did not extend into the music. It was also good to see no HD Logo for this as well. Belt and braces, because I was out, I recorded the BBC2 as well as the HD broadcast.
