Is Australia unusually racist? 12:42pm on 19 Oct 2009 I don't think Australia is *unusually* racist. I just think that UK commentators still enjoy taking a colonial view of Australia and patronising it without actually taking events into context - Marina Hyde in the Guardian in particular.

I note that there doesn't seem to be a similiar level of posturing and outrage about this incident in France:

Aussie sports fan take realistic view 1:00pm on 22 Jul 2009 Great article. It's what I've been trying to explain to my English friends - Australians love sport for sport, and aren't only interested when we're winning.

Erm...could it also be because he wants to make a point that goes against those same Republican/conservative targets? Otherwise, what is the POINT of his career? I really doubt anyone would take the risks he does without believing in his cause, at least to some extent.
Ich got some issues mit Brno's ichssues 5:22pm on 10 Jul 2009 It sounds to me (disclaimer - I haven't seen the film yet) like SBC has principles, but Universal does not. I wonder how many of these decisions were under his control? I'm sure he doesn't have ultimate power over the explanatory press packs or the editing out of the Jackson scene. I think the situation says more about the real motives and the lack of bravery and integrity in the big studio industry than Sacha Baron Cohen's principles.

Review: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen 4:53pm on 22 Jun 2009 @jovialTonyMason - Of course Dr K has notable skills (apart from his musical ones). Being a decent film critic requires more than just having an annual pass to your local Cineworld and being able to quote The Dude from The Big Lebowski.

The reason Dr K is a much better film critic than most others is that he is actually knowledgeable, unafraid to speak his mind and not just a promotional lackey, and hugely entertaining to boot. The wide knowledge of culture, history, insight, film lore and film making he brings to the subject is what sets his reviews apart. Not to mention his meticulous Renee Zellweger impressions.
