Time to play England's 2018 trump card 11:33am on 26 Nov 2009 I live in Bristol and Plymouth is a pain to reach even from here. Shipping that many people those kind of distances is a terrible idea. Links to all northern and midlands venues is fine, but Plymouth?

Also Bristol doesn't have the infrastructure to support an influx of that size. The roads are too thin, so even on a Rovers matchday, the city grinds to a halt. This is not something that can be fixed.

You can't win anything with kids.

Apparently, these kids are 'technically gifted', but lack finishing, passing, marking etc. That would be technique then.

Lambert is a great signing. Apart from that, these kids have proved nothing. I see nothing to believe the hype. They were rubbish last season and worse this season. Nine points out of ten is totally unacceptable.

I'm not saying anything like sack the manager or some stupid 'easy, quick' (and mostly ineffective) fix like that. But I see nothing to think that they won't be relegated again. That eleven point safety gap is gonna look much bigger after Christmas. (I think it'll still be there.)

Newcastle were only one point behind them.

That's gotta be the lowest survival tally ever.

It's just gonna be another Derby, which was rubbish for everyone, whereas Newcastle could have perked up next season.

So, the top of the league is predictable, and the bottom is rubbish. And mid-table teams can't compete, so eighth place is considered 'avoiding relegation'.

The Premier League is a joke.
Quartet face relegation nail-biter 5:03pm on 22 May 2009 I don't really understand the point trying to be made here:

there's no evidence that the half-time mauling turned Hull's season round, maybe they were just found out for being the poor team they always were,

there's no evidence that Alan Shearer is any good at his job, particularly as he has picked up virtually no points. (In his defense, the circumstances at the club have undermined him. Perhaps he will bring something positive next season.)

Michael Owen never plays very well nowadays. Martins came off the bench and scored. When are people gonna start saying he's too injury-prone to be any good anymore? Maybe he will come back, but right now, he is not match fit.

Come on, back up what you're saying.
Money talks in Super Bowl 10:02pm on 02 Feb 2009 Salary caps mean that NFL owners can actually make money from the clubs unlike the Premier League. It is therefore in Association Football's interest on many levels for it to be introduced.

Competition also makes for a more 'entertaining product' or better sport which is, ultimately what the fans are buying into.

Of course, it would have to be agreed across FIFA. That's more money for poorer leagues.

'Not a wasted pass' couldn't be further from the truth. Frequently not only did England mistime passes, they passed it to absolutely no one.

Thankfully Germany were even worse.

This game was embarressing for both teams.

Lampard did well, but Gerrard would do better. He is a far cleverer player and Lampard offers nothing that Gerrard doesn't minus some things.

The answer, as it was from the start, is drop Lampard, despite how good he is.
