Filling in the blanks 1:46pm on 18 Jun 2009 So much for openness and transparency. You really cannot believe anything MPs say anymore. It is within their power to allow more openness but I guess they still have skeletons to hide. Shame on them.

That would mean he failed.

That means by his own words "you should not be rewarded for failure"

That means he has to give up his gold plated pension.

That means - HE WON'T apologise because then he's joined the same club as all the other bankers.
Talking tax cuts 12:51pm on 10 Nov 2008 If this Government is so keen to help small business why is it still INCREASING the taxes on small companies?

We have already seen an increase in corporation tax for SMEs from 19% to 21% and this goes up to 22% in April 2009.

At the same time the tax on large companies is coming down from 30% to 28%. Obviously paid for by the increase in the small company rate.

As always look to the small print with Gordon Brown because he says one thing but we pay for it in another way which he does not mention.

Just as the Prime Minister is going round all the rich countries, shaking hands with suspected terrorists, with cap in hand begging them to "buy British" or is that "buy Britain" and bail out his bankrupt Labour Government.

Beats going to the IMF and all that bad publicity. This way he seems to be getting away with it because nobody's looked beyond his assurance that it's for the "world economy"

As always with Gordon Brown he says one thing and actually does something else.

Are we all so gullible?
Get Ganley! 10:12am on 10 Oct 2008 If the EU are so afraid of this one man it begs the question - WHAT ARE THEY AFRAID OF?

We all know the EU is a corrupt organisation by the fact that auditors have refused to sign off their accounts for many, many years.

So, before doing the dirty on others they should get their own house in order. THEN they will have nothing to fear from anybody.
Howls of protest 07:35am on 02 Oct 2008 In case people haven't noticed we haven't had a Conservative Government since 1997.

That means 11 years of a Labour Government.

If everything that Thatcher did during her time in power was that bad why hasn't Labour reversed it? They've had long enough.

But no they've actually.....

loosened control on the banks even further than Thatcher did AND tried to persuade the rest of Europe to do the same,

we still have the same trade union laws (maybe a few minor adjustments here and there),

we still have hospitals and schools closing even though we are building new ones but some of those new wards lay empty because the NHS can't afford to open them

we still have dirty hospitals,

we still have long waiting lists (but they are massaged)

we still have soaring crime,

our kids leave education with huge debts thanks to LABOUR introducing fees

we have families in debt thanks to the wrong calculation of tax credits. I'm still repaying mine TWO YEARS later.

We are paying double council tax and will soon have bin tax and fly tipping will increase as a result

and...

We have more millionaires now than we ever did and

according to the latest charity reports we have more people in poverty now than when Labour came to power

We also have more bureaucrats and state snoopers than ever with all the red tape that goes with them.

I've been a Labour supporter all my voting life but no more.

Labour is supposed to look after the working class but doesn't. Like all politicians it eventually cozies up to the rich and powerful.

It only causes a fuss because the BBC and you especially have taken it out of context and are making a huge thing of it.

Once again Labour bias on the BBC.

Not one other commentator I've heard has made such a big thing out of it.

Maybe you should concentrate on the whole speech and wonder why the Tories are ahead in the polls - because we've all had enough of Labour.

I've voted Labour for nearly 30 years but not this time.

How can a Labour Government justify landing students in debt when they promised in their manifest that they would not introduce fees.

Labour used to be for the working class - unfortunately not any more.
Taking up the gauntlet 07:32am on 13 May 2008 Maybe Mr Balls can also explain to all those disabled people who cannot work why this Labour Government is about to cut their benefits? Or is that another "so what"?

Yes it will happen under the disguise of the new rules due to be introduced in the Autumn. It will affect new claimants first but existing claimants will suffer reductions eventually (probably 2009).

Why is this Labour Government constantly attacking the poorest in society?

Maybe if they concentrated their minds on what is really affecting the country (and their support) rather than squabbling like children we might get some decent comments/actions from "ministers" who should know better.
