Glory hunting is not for me 3:53pm on 01 May 2009 Norwich are basically a small club and belong in League One or even League Two. The sooner the likes of Bolton, Wigan, Blackburn and Portsmouth join them, the better.
That time of the year many players dread 09:44am on 26 Mar 2009 Interesting you mentioned Notts County's defeat against Kettering. As you say, it was pretty much a 'like for like' match but it still amazes me how journos and indeed the BBC still describe such results as 'shocks' or 'upsets'.

As you say, there is virtually zero gap in quality between lower league and upper non-league these days. I reckon it's a combination of lazy journalism and the increasing obsession with everything Premier League (ignoring everything else) that causes the myth to continue.

Also, as a non-league player myself (albeit a bit further down the pyramid) I'm well aware that players in the Blue Square and even Ryman Prem turn down offers to go full-time because it would mean them taking a pay cut. That's been going on for years.
The lure of great stadiums 3:37pm on 12 Mar 2009 That League Two ground you mention doesn't happen to be Barnet does it? I was there as a youth team player in the early 90s. It was ropey then and I don't think it's been done up since - it's basically a non-league ground.
How I long for a proper Christmas 09:59am on 16 Dec 2008 To be honest, I would support a mid-season break that included Christmas. As Gavin and a few posters have pointed out, if you've got young kids it's really difficult to fit everything in.
And the 'they get paid so much so it doesn't matter' argument doesn't really apply to lower leaguers.
Just can't imagine anything worse than spending Xmas Day in a Travel Tavern while your kids are at home opening their pressies.
Incey Whingey 3:41pm on 08 Dec 2008 I think Oliver Holt made a good point speaking on TV over the weekend when he suggested that race is an issue with Ince.

He rightly pointed out that Roy Keane was far from under pressure from the press or fans before he decided to jump ship.

Similarly, there has been very little in the way of 'Mowbray out!' chants at Albion.

Meanwhile, Ince is getting it in the neck from all angles.

Regardless of the merits of Ince's Manyoo bleating, I'm of the opinion the racial aspect cannot be dismissed.

Ramos facing Titanic struggle 1:42pm on 06 Oct 2008 Although losing Keane and Berbatov was obviously a bitter blow, I reckon the main oversight (coming from a manager who is supposed to be tactically aware), was in not signing a world-class defensive midfielder.

Meanwhile, he lets Tainio go to Sunderland for a relatively modest fee.

Also, he moans about strikers but Bent, Pavlyuchenko and Campbell would all score goals if they had a balanced, functioning midfield behind them.

Let's face it, there are teams with far weaker striking options than Spurs doing well in the Premiership.
