Alonso to Ferrari could herald golden age 1:19pm on 01 Oct 2009 Looking forward to the next season and agree that the prospecs for driver battles is immense. Given that the other main ingredient in the melting pot is the quality of the car and a lot of posts have the proviso that McLaren and Fezza have to both be competitive I wonder why we never see a blog about the engineers and who is moving where. For me I would always prefer to meet an engineer than a driver if I was given the opportunity to spend an afternoon in the company of one or other.
Capello can plot World Cup glory 2:04pm on 10 Sep 2009 Thought this was a good performance last night and we deserve to qualify for SA. I was impressed the way he got Lampard and Gerrard to play together, always regarded as the impossible dream team.

A couple of people have mentioned us worrying about broken metatarsles but somehow I am not as worried for this world cup as I was with with other tournaments. FC seems able to work with a variety of players and we seem to genuinely have a squad. If a player is injured, i.e. Walcott who scored three against Croatia last time, he just picks someone else and they know exactly what is expected of them. I am optimistic for an enjoyable summer.
Brilliant Barcelona outclass Man Utd 1:20pm on 28 May 2009 Must say I was surprised at how badly Utd played, again I agree with those who felt that a lot of them didnt really try as hard as you would expect.

As a Liverpool supporter I didnt particularly want Utd to win but I have to say every time I see a Spanish side play I am disgusted by the way there is a chorus of whistles when oponents get the ball. This habit is both annoying and pathetic and for this reason I would have preferred Utd to have won if only to frustrate the ignorant Barca fans. For me I appreciate good players and I am happy to enjoy their skills when I am at a ground regardless of which side they play for.
Shadow of Alonso hangs over Ferrari drivers 11:18am on 30 Mar 2009 Like the article on Kimi, great driver but Im not convinced he has the motivation any more. I hope he does because it would make the prospect of this season even better, the more who are competing the merrier for me.

On the commentary, I thought it was good, lacked a bit of emotion and speaking over Brundle is probably a bad idea but overall not too bad. I sometimes wonder if you guys have the same pictures as us because I often see things before you do, I assume you are getting slightly different pictures or multiple pictures because to me the things are obvious and although Im a long term fan with a strong grasp of the technical I'm not an expert

That will mean that the title will go to the best because they will adapt to a new system both the quickest and more efficiently. That said I agree with a couple of comentators here that we are likely to see a few more last corner dust ups where the guy running secomd has nothing to loose. I hope we dont get the alternate scenario where someone has won the title with 8 or so races left on the callender.

Its the usual story overall though and seemingly prevalent in every sport we try to watch, interfering by administrators desparate to screw every last penny of personal wealth out of anyone who has money to spend. I hate that aspect of sport and despair we will never again see true 'sportsmanship' or character ever again.

At the end of the day all these guys are motivated by one thing and one thing only and there was no way this guy was going to give back the cash.

The basis of this greed was established and encouraged in the Thatcher years and this is their legacy not Browns. I cant imagine any of them has ever voted Labour and so the people responsible for this mess are all tories living to tory principles. As for the alternative you are all shouting for get a grip, gorgeos George Osborne will die of fright if he ever actually has to run anything.
Crowthorne @ 6am 12:34pm on 02 Feb 2009 Yes I know its snowing in London so there is an inclination to dedicate all news coverage to this catastrophic event but those of us who live North of Watford get rather more snow and cope with it without complaint or drama. Please tell me I wont have to listen to 'distressed from Sudbury' on PM my way home tonight.

Thought for the Day: "a genuinely difficult question" 8:20pm on 07 Jan 2009 Given the size of the church going population in proportion to the overall population size we would need around 10 secular speakers for every one of religious persuasion at which point it would give a fair reflection of society's opinions. As scientist I would like the opportuntiy to respond to all the religeous people who have been on recently claiming God guided evolution because they cant get away from the fact that the creation story is clearly incorrect. The fact that I have no religeous angle to this seems to preclude me from commenting.

This spot has little relevance to me and I suspect many of your listners, its only benefit to me is that if it starts when I am still on the A1 I'm running late, if it starts when I reach the outskirts of Leeds Im ahead.
Sports Personality shortlist announced 4:19pm on 02 Dec 2008 Cant believe how negative some people are being. Just because you dont like a particular sportsperson doesnt mean any of those dont have a right to be there. The somewhat limited individual who suggested that he would have won the F1 championship if he had a McLaren is, in my humble opinion, unlikely to be a better driver than Kovaleinen who had the same car.

My choice is Hoy because he is so dominant in his sport which, for those who are claiming that this is a minority sport, is an extremely competitive first order primary sport in many countries of the world. If not Hoy would like Adlington to win for her dedication and personality.
