Does anyone else miss the 15 mins full sports bulletin at 0530 hrs? Wake up to Money is too long, too depressing and usually manages to ruin my first impressions of the day to come.

PS Please gag Alan Green and prevent John Murray from getting excited. His ersatz Geordie accent becomes grating and unintelligible when anyone scores a goal.

There seem to be alot of contributors on here who have put their finger on Brown's achilles heel. Forget the insults, he has a basic deficiency which can never help this country build its way out of the hole he has created.

Brown is a centraliser; a man of the State who believes the State should control everything. If anyone still hasn't seen the regular article in Private Eye, "From the desk of the Supreme Leader", then look it out. It would be really funny if it wasn't so true.

Supported by Balls, he has 5 year plans, (not forgetting the latest 5 year teacher licence plan), and targets coming out of his ears and has lost touch with the reality of how the country works. As previously pointed out by various contributors, stop taking money from business, let them invest it in employment and watch the country grow again.

Surestart this....., tax credit that....., all 17/18 year olds stay at school, (temporarily reducing unemployment figure).....God help us. When will it all end? Honest Gordon and his gang will no doubt be producing their own newspaper shortly spinning the State's message. Maybe they could call it Pravda, (or has that been used somewhere before)?

Redistribution costs money, alot of money. For every pound we give the State it costs the machine a third of it to spend it. What a complete waste. Just don't take it in the first place!!!!! Please??!!?!

If the PM cannot get his head around giving decision making and return power back to the electorate locally then he should leave immediately IMHO.

We all know they have to go or the country will go bust, but who will blink first.

It is apparent from all the blogs that nobody really trusts Governments anymore, whatever their colour. Big talk and rhetoric by MPs e.g. "...blah, blah, we must reconnect with the electorate etc., etc" does little to help. They cannot reconnect after all they have been exposed to be.

I would contend that we have actually been too connected with Governments for too long. Unfortunately, alot of this is due to one man, as Vince Cable once humourously intimated, our Dear Leader really is Stalinist in his ideas. He needs and craves total central control. The examples are everywhere. We would be subject to 5 year plans if he thought he could use the language.

Redistribution of wealth via central Government
ID cards
Multiple databases
Reading e-mails
Phone interception
A massive public services sector
Massive central taxation
Targets galore (Is there a target for target numbers?)

These are but a few examples.

What the electorate would be better with is much more decision making and revenue collection controlled by local Government.

Redistributing wealth costs money, (therefore wastes money). If the Government were a charity they would have to wear a badge explaining how much of each pound donated actually goes to the place it's meant to. I believe that at present it costs the Government around 37 pence to spend a pound. Why then bother taking any money off the bottom 1/3rd of the less well off at all?

I hope the people on this blog understand where I am coming from.

I know I've written a long entry and didn't want to be long winded but at least I think I've managed to write without the usual bile and yah-boo found here.

Is the "Local homes for local people" a very 'clever' rewording of that great previous Brownism "local jobs for local workers"? I mean, the latter was a great success wasn't it?! Lol. The words blunder and withdrawal spring to mind.

This man and his party have really lost it, if they ever had it at all.

Why not try "local services for local people"? After all, The League of Gentleman was a very popular TV series with the same sort of disgusting of people that now inhabit Millbank. Surely another bandwagon ready to be jumped on by NuLabour.

Let's face facts. Brown has overspent, wasted and blundered on for personal ambition. Yes he has spent more than ever before and at the what cost. Massive personal and national debt, inefficient public owned services, no pensions to speak of, (except for the Public Workers), queue jumping by illegals on housing lists, (despite Government denials), etc, etc, etc.

Cameron should just come out and be honest - something Brown and Mandelson have never been.

By the way, in all your envious rantings please look at the Labour and Conservative front-benches. One of these MPs owns seven houses. Which party do you think he belongs to?
Speak - er, erm? 2:20pm on 22 Jun 2009 I'm sick of all this - a 'people's speaker'? Don't make us laugh.

Expenses will be overseen by an independant body so the new speaker can do little about them.

The real job is to give the power back to the Commons. Beckett has already rejected the reforms needed to do this and hold the executive to account.

Asking the PM to answer at least one question each Parliamentary term would also be a bonus. Can you imagine Beckett doing that?

Another shoe-in from the Labour whips office? Roll on next June and we can vote out the lot of them.
