I share your pain re logging in - I thought it was just yours truly. The other day it took me so long to log in that Jose was able to walk the dog round the block five times. Anyway, enough of my domestic problems - have you won the Golden Dagger yet?

@Micheal,

Interesting to read that, because of the demographic of BBC3, there seemed to be pressure to re-invent some of the central characters and make them much younger. I can understand a writer needing to change and tinker with dialogue and storyline but it must have been particularly difficult for John W to have to make major changes to his characters because they were, ahem, too old.

Any idea when the pilot might hit the screen?

Echoing Aspie's congratulations on the College of Comedy commission, Micheal - it sounds intriguing and a very steep learning curve for writer John W. But now that you've been asked to make the pilot does that mean The Inn Mates is a step closer to being commissioned for a full series, or do you have to wait to see what the feedback is from the pilot before the suits decide its fate?

And where is Mr P? Not a sound from him since I unwisely asked if he lived anywhere near Midsomer....

Thanks for Dan's article about Newsjack. Just one 'minor' point - Dan makes references to 'guys' sending good material in. Do I take it that women are not sending their jokes in to this show in any significant numbers or, if they are, their material is not as funny as the men's?

Out to play in Somers Town 4:04pm on 03 Jul 2009 Hi Micheal,

Fascinating blog re the Somers Town project. I've worked with some quite troubled young people in the past, teens mostly and slightly older than the youngsters taking part in Jumping for Joy. Drama and other performing arts are hugely important to them re being able to vocalise often troubled and sometimes violent lives, and some of the GCSE drama projects that I've seen have been incredibly powerful theatre.

But these particular kids are still so young, as you mention with Jayne and Lauren, that other interests will inevitably distract from the writing. Only time will tell if they want to return to this when they're older. BTW, will it help if I add my age to any future scripts I send to the Writersroom? I am 12.

Unfortunately I missed the CBBC deadline due to a slipped disc! But the script is finished. Do you advise sending it into the Writersroom instead as per usual now that the competition has been and gone?

Writers Academy 11 12:26pm on 27 Apr 2009 Just wanted to say congratulations to Abi Morgan and team for their BAFTA last night for 'White Girl'. Brilliant script (you can read it here in the script archive) and well deserved award. Well done everyone and hopefully this will be hugely encouraging to all here, either those fortunate enough to be chosen for the Writers Academy or those still plugging away.
