And yes, genre is from the programme level, sorry I didn't explain that. MusicBrainz does have Tags but it's not explicit genre information and isn't that comprehensive yet.
Machine tagging the BBC 09:41am on 25 Aug 2009 @Boilerplated - agreed, that is a risk if we automatically linked out to those images so we'd probably always have a level of human moderation in there. And although spammers could replace their images, they would have to have tagged a pretty relevant image for it to have been linked in the first place which seems a little unlikely?

Searching for places on the BBC 09:03am on 23 Jul 2009 @mktgDIGITAL - I agree and I'm certainly not claiming it tells us anything profound. It really was just a couple of hours of hacking to see what it might throw up. But maybe it points the way to something else- surfacing stories which people think are important or showing up places which the BBC doesn't have much content about? Maybe we should normalise the map against population density?

How we make websites 09:55am on 25 Feb 2009 @afrodigital - Decisions on what sites are built and what content is published are generally taken by a combined team of technical staff (who design and build things) and editorial staff (who work closely with the radio networks and audiences) based on our strategy and the requirements of the radio networks.

As you suggest, this will happen before the process described above, but it won't necessarily be a completely different set of people.
