Down in the Tees mouth 09:23am on 27 May 2009 I've never been a huge fan of Alan Shearer but his bluntness after the game and refusal to get drawn into the Too Big To Go Down silliness improved my estimation of him.

And I like Gareth Southgate and hope he can get the Boro back next year.

Man Utd pile on agony for Wenger 09:32am on 06 May 2009 Wenger certainly hasn't taken Arsenal as far as he can take them provided he's willing to spend some of the cash that's supposedly at his disposal.

He's an excellent manager and his footballing principles are admirable, but (without wanting to sound like I'm Hansen-baiting :-P) talented youth isn't always the answer and I think Arsenal could do with an extra couple of wiser heads, with the key one for me being a player to do Fabregas' dirty work in midfield.
Glory hunting is not for me 11:42am on 01 May 2009 Surely being a "proper" supporter is less to do with why you support a team, but how you support them? Knowing about the team, having a genuine passion for them, etc.
Glory hunting is not for me 09:44am on 01 May 2009 I'm afraid I'm one of the countless United fans not to be from Manchester, and while I don't hold that you're not a "proper" football fan unless you support your home town team, football would be a sad shadow of itself if there weren't so many people who do support their local club.

I do try to get to what games I can for my home team (Coventry City) and have been to plenty over the years, but United are my team and have been for about 18 years now and there's no turning away from the fact that they're my team.

I agree with loanees, though. Clubs who use them as a means to an end for a few months rather than genuinely bringing in players who they think they might want to sign don't often get a lot out of it. Having 4 or 5 regulars over a couple of seasons and the rest being a changing cast of various loan deals doesn't do anybody any good.

Why? For not thinking the man should get lynched? Pull the other one.

Yes, the decision was wrong. Yes, it changed the game. But he wasn't well positioned to make the call and the linesman is too far away and on the wrong side of the players too. I agree that with either replay technology or the second set of linesmen that's been suggested it would most likely have got overturned, but that's life. United might have ended up losing, they mighta scraped a draw or they might still have gone on to win the title.

Let's not start calling the moderators down because somebody had the temerity to disagree with you.
