Football helping our Armed Forces heroes 1:13pm on 11 Nov 2009 I'll never forget Seargeant Stant's goals for Bury including 4 away at Mansfield in a 5-1 win. What a guy.
Review of the week 2:31pm on 06 Nov 2009 Don't know whether its because I had a couple of pints with my dinner or not, but I thought that was pretty funny.
Review of the week 4:50pm on 30 Oct 2009 I agree with whoever it is banning multi-coloured footwear for the club academy (QPR perhaps, can't be bothered checking). Back in the day it was only the world's most supremely talented players who could get away with ditching the regulation black boots for something white, silver or yellow and now you go and watch a sunday league match and there's a 20 stone bald bloke trundling down the wing at 0.2 miles an hour in bright pink luminous boots, its all gone too far.
Where would Sven exit leave Notts County? 3:09pm on 19 Oct 2009 Correct me if i'm wrong but Notts reached the first division in the early nineties without Sven-Goran Eriksson. It'll be perceived as a blow to lose him and perhaps a bit embarrassing for the club and its fans but if the club's got money, they'll be able to attract players good enough to get them up the leagues.
They don't need world famous, world class players to get out of league two or league one. Decent players already plying their trade in the lower leagues will still be attracted by the larger wages that Notts can offer and they'll be able to assemble a squad capable of getting them to the Championship in the next thee or four years and when they do, this'll all be forgotten.
I have always had a soft spot for Notts since living in the city during their 90/91 (I think) promotion season so I wish them well, but not when they play the mighty Shakers in a few weeks.

I thought it was a fairly interesting article. It re-enforces my opinion of Mr Capello that he won't leave a stone unturned in his quest for success.

Oh we'd love that wouldn't we? Having someone to blame for not getting a world cup tournament played here? Then we could vilify West Ham and Millwall for ever and a day.

Mawhinney tackles the big issues 09:02am on 03 Jun 2009 We all know why Gartside wants a 2 tier premier league, Its because he's scared to death of HIS team getting relegated and suddenly having to cope wity 20 or 30 million less per season.
Its an utterly selfish and single-minded suggestion and i can't believe his suggestion is still being banded around. It does worry me though. It will get the vote of clubs in a similar position to Bolton and it WILL destroy the lower leagues.
Burnley show the way forward 12:28pm on 26 May 2009 People are talking about Burnley being back in the top division after 33 years, but don't forget that in that time they've come within a whisker of dropping out of the league altogether!

You correctly point out that its a boost to all teams that you can achieve great things with good management and a supportive board etc.

Here's another thing, next season there will be SIX Lancashire teams in the Premier League. Someone please remind me how many Yorkshire sides there'l be in the Prem in 2009/10 . . .
