'Positive action', not 'positive discrimination' 5:52pm on 20 Oct 2009 Nick, I have been waiting days for your latest blog....yesterday we had Ed Balls again treating Parliament with distain and arrogance, so I was sure you would have opened up a debate !!! But so such luck. However, I am now believing all the bloggers who accuse you of bias....you ignored the Balls story and come up with this Cameron small issue. Are you biased ???
Bash-A-Banker 5:36pm on 09 Feb 2009 Plenty of hand wringing from the Government...yet again. In any "normal" take over of a failed (bankrupt) company such as RBS the company now in charge call the shots....that includes from Day1 controlling the ethics of the Company. The taxpayer now owns 70% of RBS so what on earth is stopping the Government blocking all of the bonuses? To hide behind "contracts" is showing there is zero backbone.
Nick why do you never put a shot up this ineffective government?
In the news today... 12:47pm on 05 Feb 2009 Reading the whole blog is is obvious that over 90% are supporting Carol Thatcher and accusing the BBC (and presenters) of various things. Once again this moring on both BBC Breakfast and Today this topic was covered....afterwards mention was made about emails coming in. In these cases the BBC NEVER give any indication of the level of reaction for and against. I wonder why? I have complained many times about BBC being "balanced" but in fact they are biased for their own agenda. I hope Cameron starts to tell them what he will do about the BBC when he eventually comes to power.
I also notice "have your say" is covering the snow...why not this hot topic????
Green shoots (2) 3:40pm on 18 Jan 2009 All day Sky have been reporting the 14% poll lead for the Tories (Sunday Times). No mention on BBC News, or their teletext or their website. I remember watching the Daily Politics back in December and a breathless Anita Annand saing: "breaking news Tories lead down to 4 points!"
It is very difficult to believe there is not serious bias here.....Nick are you going to allow this to go on without comment?
2008: The Brown rollercoaster 09:44am on 20 Dec 2008 My comment #11 yesterday has been moderated out (no email explaining why!!). I will try again....Nick continues to fall in with the bias of BBC. This blog and Nick's performance on Fridays 6 o'clock news are not searching or even objective. The latest opinion poll (YouGov) is showing Tory lead increasing again....I have watched BBC news this morning plus checked teletext...absolutely ZERO mention. Sky News is covering the subject with inputs like "Brown bounce over". I wonder if Nick will today update this blog with some facts on the situation with Mr Brown?
Do not hold your breath!!
Lisbon charm offensive 5:25pm on 04 Dec 2008 Democracy. Such a small word, but the antics of the EU continue to demonstrate they either do not understand what it means, or else more worryingly, they do not believe in it. The Irish voted "NO"...should be end of the story. Why is Mr Mardell's postings always as a cheer leader for the EU and never seeming to challenge anything. Is it not outragious to change the rules after the match to try and give the result to the other team? The Irish situation was well known when the process started, so when they voted "NO" why was that not accepted as the result. Mr Mardell your job is to challenge not to be a spokesman for the EU....
Giant borrowing payback looms 11:01am on 22 Nov 2008 Brown's performance on Jeremy Vine show was truly sickening. The "public" who did get through had clearly been hand picked (was Mandy on the telephone's?). I was too late to phone , say I was 100% Labour...then get on the phone and ask him is he going to decrease quango budgets by 50%....this would immediately save £30billion and then he can really give tax cuts. All our private companies are cutting budgets but NOT ONE WORD for this government do do ANYTHING with their bloated budgets. The Guardian pages are STILL full of the typical non jobs. Cameron it is time for you to go for Brown....
Why Barclays prefers Abu Dhabi to GB 10:06am on 31 Oct 2008 Brown is already starting to tell "his" banks what to do. Boy am I glad I have banked with Barclays for years and at least my bank will not be subjected to the Socialist dictats from Brown, Darling, Mandleson, Balls, Rosa Klebb etc etc.....
Irish No under scrutiny 10:29am on 25 Jun 2008 What's the difference between democracy in Zimbabwe and the EU? Answer in Zimbabwe they they fix the result before the voting takes place....in the EU they fix the result after the vote has taken place. Is there much difference? There is no real democracy in either, but at least the EU is not physically killing the people, only trying to treat them as fools.
Ireland questions EU course 2:16pm on 20 Jun 2008 The Treaty of Rome has been mentioned several times. Where does it mention becoming a state of Europe? The Lisbon Treaty gives a president, foreign minister and embassies....that is a real step towards a state. I did vote to stay in the Common Market in 1975....but since then none of the political parties have asked the voters if they agree with the direction of continuous European integration....political, social, legal...as well as economic. The fact the Tories never gave referendums is now being used by Labour as a reason for continuing not to ask the people.
Yes we are a Parliamentary democracy....but that dos not mean heading towards a super state of Europe is not above party policy. In fact the people have been lied to continuously about the real direction of Europe.
I believe we need to have a referendum...not on Lisbon...but simply: "Do you want to continue a path of further integration with the European Union, or to stop integration and focus on ecomonic cooperation." It is not in or out of Europe, but how to progress.
