If teams don't show for the FA Cup, nor will fans 07:07am on 05 Jan 2010 It makes me laugh that there are teams out there not taking this competition seriously. For many it is an ideal opportunity to put silverware on the table. Man City for example have spent all these millions and a good starting point for them would be to win the FA cup.

I put the falling attendences down to the weather and the cost. Which makes me wonder why the clubs would rather have an empty stadium than to open the doors for free entry and actually give something back to the Supporters for once?
Spain can end Europe's historical failure 9:44pm on 01 Dec 2009 Spain will do well until they come up against a team that it makes more commercial success to support. Then we will see the dodgy refereing that will dumb them unfairly out of the World Cup. It happend in 2002 when South Korea marched to the semi finals with more than their fair share of help from the men in black. It even happend in 1996 when my own England team dumbed them unfairly out of the European championships on penalties after they had a disallowed goal and a good penalty shout. To be fair it makes a change for England as we have had more than our own fair share of tickery to stop our progression.
I wonder how far South Africa will go and who will fall at there expense? Not to mention France?
England understudies can shine in Qatar 1:51pm on 13 Nov 2009 England is weak in two positions Goalies and Strikers. What concerns me the most is the lack of players we have in these positions playing in the top clubs or regularly in the Champions League. I think the Goalie situation is terrible and the only chance we have of it not having an impact is if the rest of the players can defend well enough to keep the attacking chances down to a minimum.

Strikers we fair little better with only Rooney playing at the highest level of the game. Well Rooney and Owen which is why I am convinced it is just a matter of time before Michael will be back in the England team. He is the only natural top quality goal scorer England has. Defoe is OK but a poor second and if it comes to one or the other my money is MO every time. Crouch deserves to be there because he does put the ball in the back of the net. Heskey as well as he brings the best out of his strike partner. If it was me and they were all fit my strikers would be Rooney, Owen, Dafoe, Crouch and Heskey. The rest need to start producing it for club before country.
Capello's World Cup contenders 07:55am on 15 Oct 2009 Again like a number of other people here I think that you are so wrong in your comments about Beckham. The guy does not need to prove anything and if fit and playing will be in the squad no doubt.

For me the players that need to prove something are Rooney and Gerrard. Both World Class Talents no doubt but have we ever seen them at there best playing for England in a big Tournament? Rooney commited an horrendous foul in 2006 against Portugal that saw him recieve a deserved Red Card (while Beckham was slaughtered Rooney got off lightly). Gerrard has only ever had 1 outstanding game in an England shirt when we beat Germany in Munich 1 - 5. For me the next world cup is there moment to shine and let us just hope they rise to the occasion.
Real deals put La Roja in the shade 07:23am on 09 Sep 2009 I am a Real Madrid fan but to say that the people only like Lass Diarra for his work rate is not correct. Lass has become a fundamental part of this team and has grown in stature and class. Some of balls he threads through to the strikers is of the highest order and he rarely looses the ball. He is likened to Makalele but he is more as he has the passing instinct of Gazza at his best.
I hope that he is getting his just rewards as for me he is one of the most important players for Real Madrid at this moment in time.
Maradona turns to fans for helping hand 10:34pm on 31 Aug 2009 I am 99% certain that Argentina with Maradona at the helm is going to fail big style. No doubt he was a fantastic player but that is not enough in the modern game of football management. The only inexperienced football managers that have succeeded are those that have played under top class coaches. Maradona was that good that he did not need management, you could stick him in any team and your % chance of winning would improve (especially with a dodgy ref). So for me he has not even had the benifit as a footballer to learn his trade working under the best let alone no experience after his football years. The guy cannot even find a place in his team for Real Madrid forward Higuain. This is over before it even started which is a shame as Messi should be there to grace any tournament.
Owen worth Man Utd gamble 11:57pm on 03 Jul 2009 I have to say fair play to Fergie. I am not his biggest fan although fully respect him for what he has achieved in the game. But with him signing Owen my respect for him has grown bigger. I have never doubted Owen's talent and personally I think he is the greatest natural English striker we have ever had. He has made some mistakes in his career no doubt, but this could be the best move of them all.
Is Owen still worth a gamble? 11:34am on 16 Jun 2009 Michael Owen is the only natual big game striker England has got. There is no one better in that position than him. I have no doubt that Owen has a future still at Club and Country level so I for one am not going to be so quick to right him off. After all just look at how Emile Heskey has forced his way back into contention. Owen just needs to get back fit and be playing for a good team that will give him the service he thrives on.
Is Owen still worth a gamble? 07:46am on 16 Jun 2009 brazilianbandit; I am not sure what games you were watching but Michael Owen had a good year at Real Madrid. He was top scorer for minutes played on the pitch. Including a great goal against Barcelona. The only problem he had was that they brought him on the cheap and never really gave him a good shot in the team. I think he made a massive mistake in leaving as the climate and playing less games helped his injuries.
Is Owen still worth a gamble? 10:45pm on 15 Jun 2009 Michael Owen is the best natural Goal Scorer England has ever had. That ability is still there and I for one have not given up hope on him regaining his England place. He went to Newcastle in what has turned out to be a disaster move but I do not pin all the blame on Newcastles relegation at his doorstep. He is a striker that depends on service, if that is short coming then he cannot do his job. So in answer I for one think a big YES, he is worth a gamble. A move to Villa or even Spurs could be a good one for player and club. Plus I would use him as a super sub, in that role at Madrid he played outstanding.
