It's a bit difficult pretending to work in your office when you're laughing at the computer screen though so please don't make me laugh out loud again or I will have to complain to the BBC about the use of my licence fee.

Can't wait for this one, I think Hatton has had his wilderness years and a change of trainer and attitude will be the (re) making of him.

One night at Gleason's 3:37pm on 06 Nov 2008 Wow that's unusual, someone complaining about the 0.0003p from each of our licence fees that's gone to sending Ben Dirs to New York to cover the fight. Every time someone from the BBC posts a blog from some far-flung place the Guardianistas get ugly. Now I would love Ben's job, love it, but the fact that he has got it and not me is not going to get me on my high horse about the licence fee.

I rate the work that Ben does and I think he is a very worthy contributor. I also think that the BBC as a whole gives me a brilliant return for my £11 a month licence fee. Ok not all of it is to my taste but how could it possibly be? And compare what the BBC serve up for £11 a month with the tripe that I pay Sky £40-odd a month for.....now that really is cause for complaint. And I would, if it wasn't for the fact that the wife loves most of the trash they broadcast and would leave me! Hmmmm, on second thoughts......

Who should get a Ryder Cup wildcard? 1:09pm on 27 Aug 2008 Poulter should follow the example set by Justin Rose.

After his poor showing in Holland last weekend Rose has decided to stay on in Europe for another week to cement his place in the RC team. As he says, going back to America was the original plan but he came to Europe to do a job and didn't get it done. Hence he will hang around until he DOES get it done, despite the money on offer in the US. Fantastic, refreshing and he has gone way up in my estimations. Despite being a shoe- in for a pick even if he did get pipped for an auto slot at the 11th hour he changes his schedule (and risks the wrath of his wife!!) and that's the kind of attitude that inspires others

Further, golfers in general, like footballers, could do far worse than take note of the passion and desire shown by Team GB's athletes. Those athletes can only dream about earning the sort of cash that even a journeyman golfer gets and yet they give their all.........that's real sporting prowess
