...gone 10:44pm on 15 Oct 2009 Its a bit rich (sorry) saying Cameron has taken the moral high ground when with £30M in assets he claims for a second mortgage on a house he could have bought outright.

I will believe he is truly better than Labour when he pays back all his second mortgage payments. Until then he's just another grubby Politician looking forward to a few years in power, being treated like Royalty, grabbing every perk he can and then getting half a dozen non-executive directorships from his mates in the CBI.

The axe begins to swing 08:54am on 18 Sep 2009 Bloggers, yes lets put all our trust in them. Afterall, I'm sure they are just nice people trying provide a fair, perceptive and impartial commentary. Obviously, none of them have a political agenda to propound or have any financial support from pressure groups or political parties - no of course not. yes, lets put all our faith in someone whose real name we will never know.

The axe begins to swing 08:47am on 18 Sep 2009 Is there any point having a comments section to your blog anymore? While you appear to attempt to balance your comments, the vast majority of contributors have just put down their Daily Mail prior to having a good old, self righteous rant. The analysis they make is thin and the standards normally biased. As to the contributors who childishly throw in Liebour and Gordon Clown: how very droll - and ironic coming from the party of Aitken, Archer and Hamilton.

The world narrowly avoided a depression this year - not a recession - and all they can think of to say is that your analysis should exactly mirror theirs. I am glad Mr Osborne was not in charge of UK finanaces this year, but if he wants any advice on what to cut once he is in power how about financial support for any university that has courses in PPE (Politics Philosophy and Economics) - they are clearly failing us.
Why don't the Conservatives spell out their plans? 11:00pm on 08 Sep 2009 Camerons big plan to get elected was to hold the Tory party together long enough for Labour to become unpopular - as all Governments do. Hague et al only failed because they were too early.

No wit, no deep thought, no intelligence needed. Even a millionaire Etonian can do it - though Osborne might struggle a bit.

So, the reason theres no detail has been released is because they have not thought much further than getting power, having some fun and then grabbing non-executive directorships when the going gets tough.

What do you expect from people who took Politics, Philosophy and Economics combined degrees?

Civil Servants do what they are told to by the government in power. Often what they are told to do is overly complex so it takes lots of people. Tories were just the same.

If your correspendents really think Civil Servants are overpaid, work shy layabouts, how come they have not jumped onto the gravy train?

Answer: because there isnt one.

As for the private sector running things: Don't they run the banks?
Olympic overdose? 7:30pm on 08 Aug 2008 The obvious comment is that the Olympics are dull and unimportant. Though there can be no no doubt some paid sports commentator will tell us "the whole world is watching".

The only reason people remember an opening cereremony is because it is relatively interesting compared to watching self-obssessed people compete in sports that normally attract audiences of a few dozen.
