I used develop software for big banks. One day, a colleague was installing software in a large server room in one of our bigger banks in the City of London. He went to exit the server room. Instead of hitting the green Door Release button, he hit the Big Red Button. The sound of all the Bank's servers winding down was not a nice one. Nor were the 8 hours rebooting them....

One thing I'd like to see is the ability to *exclude* items. Say, for example, I love sport but despise football. Instead of ticking all but football, I'd rather tick an "exclude" football box.

Would you say that in front of any of the individuals who have given their all in the last week? Emms, Daley, Cooke, etc.

If you dared to voice this to them instead of from the security of your blog, I would hope you got a right earful, and rightly so.

The same attitude was being voiced on Radio 5 this morning. It really hacks me off to hear people belittling the efforts, acheivements, disappointments and emotions of all the athletes who've spent the previous week giving everything they can to the Olympics.

No, of course not. He is fortunate to be in a sport where it is possible to compete in many many events in one Olympics.

Sure, he is arguably one of the greatest swimmers of all time, but you can't use medal tallies as an indication of the greatest every sportsman/woman.
Move over Murray, these Games ain't for you 09:41am on 12 Aug 2008 Fantastic article, Matt. I understand perfectly that your main thrust was about which sports probably shouldn't be in the Olympics. It's great to see you putting that opinion so strongly.

I get really wound up when all these minority sports heroes are overshadowed by the same old familiar faces. Tennis is the worst example, in my opinion. These chaps get so much exposure, they shouldn't be there.

Let the archers, fencers, cyclists, shooters, canoeists have their moments!

PS - I didn't find your Murray comments at all offensive.
BBC Music Artist Pages Beta 09:24am on 29 Jul 2008 This looks really good. It will be great to track artists through this site.

Any chance you will ultimately link it to other BBC sources such as John Peel sessions? I wait with baited breath for the day that I can listen to any old Peel session through iPlayer...!
