Monday 29 June 2009 11:27pm on 29 Jun 2009 Liked Paxo's self-deprecating comments at the end of tonight's programme; Dizzee is clearly media-savvy in his sample of the clip. It would have been even better had Paxo himself been there on stage with "Mr Rascal" to provide a few cues. Might even have rivalled The Boss' set later on (only joking).
Neil Young on the BBC 5:05pm on 28 Jun 2009 There is an argument for the case that the BBC misled viewers in the Glastonbury previews by emphasising Neil Young's appearance at the festival, ie., that the beeb would show a good portion of his set. However, as someone who still attends gigs whenever possible, I have to say that I prefer live performances to those mediated through TV; there's nothing to beat the live experience. Both Neil Young & Bruce Springsteen are recognised for their live shows as much as their back catalogue. I was pleased that so much of Springsteen's set was shown last night, it was spell-binding to watch; "Outlaw Pete" will have astonished many indie kids for its passion & duration. I've seen Springsteen in concert quite a few times now & he remains the best live act I've ever witnessed.
Hillsborough - a personal memory 3:45pm on 11 Apr 2009 Steve Wilson's memories of that day are chillingly similar to mine. Along with my brother and a friend, I, too, decided to turn left when passing through the turnstile. We arrived inside the ground a little after 2pm. I reckoned we'd get a better view of the game from the high bank of terracing adjacent to the North Stand. One of the abiding memories of that dreadful day is being told by a young-looking PC outside the stadium when we finally had the chance to leave that he had been on duty outside the turnstiles, yet had no radio communication with any of his colleagues.

Liverpool send out title message 8:40pm on 26 Oct 2008 Character, commitment & guts. Qualities which we haven't always shown at Stamford Bridge in the last few years (it also became increasingly embarrassing to be reminded that Bruno Cheyrou scored Liverpool's last winner at Chelsea).
Mascherano was a tiger in midfield, Alonso provided poise in a crowded & hectic battle. However, the real star was Carragher; he was immense. At the risk of causing uproar amongst my fellow Liverpudlians, I've long felt that Carra displays greater leadership qualities than Gerrard. The current captain certainly inspires & motivates like few others on the world stage. However, that isn't necessarily leadership itself.
Title contenders? Probably, but it would be daft to go any further than that in late October. What can be said with certainty is that this is the strongest squad we've had since 1990.
Charles Wheeler, a personal reflection 10:33pm on 04 Jul 2008 In an age when most TV reporters are third-rate hacks who wave their arms around like demented marionettes for a dumbed down audience, Charles Wheeler was the personification of what intelligent journalism should be. As much as I like Paxo, he's got a long way to go before reaching Wheeler's level.
