Teesside might be poor, it might be polluted and in the middle of industrial turmoil - but I'm not having southerners and non fans coming on here and slagging off Boro fans who have opted not to turn up, not to buy tickets.

Southgate has been a mediocre manager, veering from good to bad on a week by week basis. Good performances have been punctuated heavily by renowned poor ones in key games (FA Cup tie vs Cardiff, or this season's drubbing at home by West Brom).

Unless you're a Boro fan and living through this and going or not going week to week, you're not in a position to offer judgement on whether Boro fans are loyal or not.

A football club can't live off empty seats, and a sector of fans - unhappy with the abysmal performances that got us relegated and are passing for a promotion challenge - have voted with their feet. it hasn't been coordinated, it's been nothing more than a general feeling of discontent that Gibson didnt act earlier.

Also in getting relegated, we should be getting around 25k fans (bearing in mind prices havent come down) - 17k is proof that something had to be done.

Attendance will shoot up for the next home game.
Capello can plot World Cup glory 1:37pm on 10 Sep 2009 IMHO, if the minnows of Greece can win the European Championship with strong, distinct leadership and a very specific gameplan, England have every opportunity of winning a World Cup with th terrifying Mr Capello in charge.

However as European teams traditionally have a big problem winning tournaments outside of Europe, the 2010 WC winners may well be from further afield.

Despite this, and given how countless tournament winners in the past have had easy runs through to the semis (Argentina 1990, for instance), England surely have their best chance in 20 years.

All of those flash pictures of cars, perfume, movie trailers, etc - they're known as "adverts" and they provide the News Korp's online income on sites such as The Sun,The Times Online, etc. You know, those sites with largely the same content as the print versions. Whether the advertising slump is causing Murdoch problems is no ones concern other than Murdochs.

There are hundreds of independent websites, blogs etc generating enough successful quantities of revenue to be successful thanks to online advertising. The fact that most of you reading this aren't aware of them just goes to show how well online advertising pays.

This whole thing is a white elephant. If the News Korp fancies a subscription model then they'll have to offer something unique in order for it to be a success.
A browser-free Windows 7 11:30am on 01 Jul 2009 Paul Freeman-Powell's "A browser is part of a complete operating system" isn't exactly incorrect and isn't far from the truth. I certainly think that within the next 20 years OS' will be wholly browser based.

Mobile platforms utilise widgets in a browser-inspired OS user interface and it is only a matter of time before this approach translates to desktops or a subset of desktops, notebooks and tablets.

Love the way people are quick to jump on someone and not deal with the issue...
Open and shut case? 7:23pm on 30 Oct 2008 The majority of the country is over 35, a statistic that continues to rise.

Ross and Brand's actions were irresponsible and immature, but shouldn't have been broadcast.

Ross also made an error of judgment in intending to wait until this week's scheduled show to apologise.

However as Sachs has said he wants an end to it, Brand and Ross have apologised, that should be the end of it.

Ross should also have been given an enforced break from his radio show, and Brand suspended, rather than sacked.

It's a shame things have got to this stage, but face facts Rob and Radio 1 - the youth of the country are in a massive minority, on a lot of matters. Older members of society rarely have their voices heard, and this is one occasion where they have been listened to.
Can a charity make file-sharing taboo? 8:16pm on 30 Apr 2008 Unfortunately this is a massive argument, but it can be summed up as follows:

The music industry, desperate to RE-sell us CDs of albums we had already on vinyl and tape, spruced up with extra tracks and quality, are now upset because people are opting to try before they buy.

In an era when music acts from the 1960s and 1970s continue to outsell those from the current age, the people responsible for running these organisations need to stop blaming the technology that they encouraged us to adopt, and get their own houses in order.

The changes we've seen since Napster were signalled in the late 1980s, and none of the big publishers did anything about it.

Music is a big business. Like any business, if you don't keep up, you're out of the game.

What is most frustrating though is that people are continuing to paint anyone who downloads music as the same sort of thief who will steal a car. It's far more involved than that, and framing a complex issue that bisects culture, technology, law and economics in such black and white terms is not only stupid, it is irresponsible.
