BBC and the Gaza appeal 8:58pm on 24 Jan 2009 The DEC appeal is about people, not politics. So far I have given you as DG the benefit of doubt about your ability to make decisions. Your resignation is now the only solution, but if you want to do one decent thing first then allow the DEC appeal.
A Quick fix for Global warming? 09:32am on 07 Sep 2008 [More mundane - though no less dramatic in terms of their impact - are proposals to increase cloud cover by spraying salt into the atmosphere, or to seed the oceans with iron (triggering plankton blooms that would draw carbon from the water before locking it away on the sea bed as these tiny shell-building creatures died and sank to the bottom).]

Oh please, no more clouds - Not over the UK at least!!!
The end of the world is not nigh 09:29am on 07 Sep 2008 The biggest problem with scientists is that they seldom believe they are ever wrong and quickly sweep it under the carpet when proven so. On a personal note I don't have a problem with taking risks, even very big ones, on my own behalf; but it is so wrong for an elitist band to make a decision on behalf of all of us.

Of course if we are still here the day after, we'll be told "We told you it was safe" and then they use that to justify bigger risk taking. Just like the dangerous kids game of "Chicken"

You cannot take risk out of any equation, and "Smith" seemed to think you can. We live with risk every day, there is never a zero risk. I'd feel a little happier if they had run a risk analysis based on the actual probability rather than talk down to what they seem to think are the uneducated masses. What an arrogant lot!
Glass Box for Tuesday 6:56pm on 24 Jun 2008 Interesting comments from the man photographing buses and his concerns about peoples attitudes to photographers. This is getting worse and I believe even some professional photographers have had run-ins with police. The Bureau of Freelance Photographers have issed its members with a blue card spelling out the legal situation, which can be presented to Police or others. An interview with the BFP would have been an interesting follow-on.
Why politicians hate referendums 07:42am on 16 Jun 2008 It's true that many people vote on rumour and a general lack of understanding, but then who is to blame for that? There is a general fear of the Europolitical steamroller, unaccountable and not listening to the electorate.

When the original UK referendum was held it was to join a European Community. I voted against, not because I was against a community but because I predicted it would be a move towards a Union. Wehn I voiced my opinion at the time I was ridiculed and told that view was nonsense. I now keep my progression of British Passports - One before Europe, One with European Community written on it and now my current one with European Union.

I look forward to a future one with something far worse.

Europe was supposed to prevent wars. Take away the democratic process and it will lead to civil war.
