Success of Sky was never a model for Setanta 11:46pm on 09 Jun 2009 Sport broadcasting - what a sad and sorry mess and a testiment to human greed, right here in rip-off Britain. Thanks to Sky Sports and their tawdry imitators, never has so much innocent entertainment been denied to so many by the extortion and greed of so few.

Maybe we should read some books or take some walks and let Sky shove their blackmailing live coverage where the sun don't shine.

They will lazily live off it for as long as their minimal consciences will allow. Give 'em some breathing space and they'll put their feet up from self interest, to excuse making, to passing the buck...or even jumping ship (thats for you Jamie, riddance).
If he can cut out all that crep and get them to (to use a player's bullphrase) 'kick on' he really is a top manager. Good luck, mate.

It makes that tortuous list of complacent dross displays which came before all the more baffling and infuriating. I guess naughty children always behave when told they're going to a funeral.
You know the England headmaster's still got a job on though when they start showing off and acting like world beaters before the game is even over.

You'll have to make the effort and prove how good you are over and over again before you deserve the fans trust again.

Like a decent chef, forced to work with stale and raw ingredients, he's doomed to serving up a football dish that leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
He can change the player's fitness, technique, tactics, formations, shirt colours or hairstyles but not that grey stodge between their ears thats the cause of this tedious, repetitive, predictable failure.

Maybe he could hire Doctor Frankenstein as team physio...
Time for England to trust Joe Cole 6:07pm on 08 Sep 2008 Cole is a clever footballer and thanks to his time at Chelsea is clearly football 'savvy' too. It's that quality all Argentinian internationals have, called the 'dark arts' at it's most extreme and it gives our boys their palpable inferiority complex at international level.
If Walcott gets savvy too (and the signs are he might be capable) we could think about wiping the smirk off the face of Bilic and his boys.
Get them both in and tell 'em to be as dark as they like.

Capello and Barwick suffer as England struggle 00:29am on 22 Aug 2008 Like everyone else, I've been wondering why it is the England team just can't perform, no matter who the manager is, what the tactics are, which formation, etc etc. Suddenly the truth has dawned and proof of it would be quite simple.

Give the whole Engalnd team an I.Q. test.
And then compare the results to the rest of the world. Guaranteed we'd be in the bottom 50%. Almost certainly bottom 30%. Wouldn't bet against the bottom 10%.

Our illustrious new captain Mr Terry can barely string one grammatically correct sentence together in a press conference, yet he's charged with marshalling our troops from the back. Listen in awe to post match interviews with Ferdinand, Cole (or Cole), Beckham, Lampard, Defoe, on and on I could go..it's like listening to one village idiot after another, their English marginally better than the manager's and he's learning the language.

Yeah, I'm tired of hearing how the opposition 'out thought' England or were 'too cute' for England or 'kept possession better than England' but it all adds up to the same thing which can't be solved - our players just aren't intelligent enough to know how how to keep possession of the ball, never mind unlock an intelligent defence.
Clever Premiership teams made up mainly of clever non English players can easily carry the odd stupid Englishman. Frank Lampard or John Terry will tell you that in private.
Next time you hear someone like Slaven Bilic interviewed and you think to yourself 'hmmm, he sounds quite intelligent' just remember, his players are too.....and ours won't be....and thats why we won't win.
