Man Utd right to sell Ronaldo 3:41pm on 11 Jun 2009 Yes once again it is the end of United. All is lost. United are now an awful side. We'll be lucky to get relegated next season. Yawn. Will you have a look at the history books because honestly the only reason you are even here talking such nonsense is because of the fact that United always rise up again no matter what tragedy has befallen them, what players have left or what temporary setbacks happen. This is not some fairytale in a fans head - it's in the history books. Maybe this will signal a season or two of rebuilding or remoulding the side. But we all know deep down United will be there or thereabouts and absolutely guaranteed to be winning trophies if not next season in the very near future. Yes dark days indeed.
Milan to Madrid via Manchester 4:53pm on 09 Jun 2009 Why do people always complain about Ronaldhino? I like characters who throw it all away. It's very rock n roll and a nice change from all the majority of bland healthy bores who litter the footballing world. He is just the latest in a long line of people from Jim Morrisson to Sid Vicious through to Maradonna and Mickey Rourke - people with loads of talent and an appetite for destruction. He should totally go off the rails now for a few years instead of sitting on the bench sorry fence.
Brilliant Barcelona outclass Man Utd 12:21pm on 28 May 2009 Barca are so so so lucky. UEFA wanted this. The fact that Fletcher's red wasn't pardoned was a total disgrace and completely changed things. Barca are a horrible team with even worse support. How anyone could want to see Eto with a winners medal is beyond me. Any to everyone slagging United - what did you win this season?
Quartet face relegation nail-biter 11:00pm on 22 May 2009 I'm beginning to wonder if all the hype and furore over the Man U team playing Hull might not actually have turned into a massive disadvantage for the home side. There might be so much built up around the game and selection that whoever goes out for United will be absolutely psyched for a battle and victory more so than if it had been the regular first team just to prove that there is nothing unfair or untoward happening.
Can Wenger fill the gap? 2:33pm on 04 May 2009 Comment 11: Think it'll be a Barcelona v Man Utd final this year and even if United manage to win it again, we have to admit than Barca are the best team in Europe by some distance

Why?? They clearly won't be as they will have failed to become European Champions plus it will have been the second year in a row they will have fallen to English opposition. Barca are glamorous no doubt and play some great football but there is a little too much fawning in their direction in my opinion. They are no great shakes at the back when playing against decent opposition and have a tendency to get extremely moany and sulky when their brand of god like football doesn't work.

I am no Chelsea fan but thought the Barca players were pathetic afterward. If you are really so great and the best in Europe by 'some distance' you should be able to take on any style of play or tactics and get around it especially on home ground. It makes me laugh the way they acted as if Chelsea had cheated by deciding to defend vigorously against them for the 90 mins something which is obviously clearly outside the rules of the game because it didn't leave them enough room to do their usual routine of pulling tactically naive teams apart. Boo hoo!

If they overcome Chelsea and Man U or Arsenal and win their league - fair enough they will deserve the tag of best team in Europe - until then don't believe the hype and lets see if they really are THAT good and produce the goods on the big stage which they limply failed to do last year not managing to put even ONE goal past Man U over two matches.
The private life of Rio Ferdinand 5:35pm on 24 Apr 2009 Another celebrity magazine - exactly what the world needs. I really have no idea where to track down enough photos or salicious goss about our social betters! Thank goodness for this! But also one that shows they are not just fame hungry mercenaries and have 'softer' sides. And the princes - well apart from the monarchy being a totally cool worthwhile idea in 2009 I am sure their underservedly priviliged background in the aristocracy running around shooting small animals will give them some amazing insights into our world. Famous people are just so amazing.... sigh.... Welcome to the machine......
Cancer 4:29pm on 06 Apr 2009 There is some seriously melodramatic nonsense being spouted here. I had cancer at 24 and didn't even bat an eyelid while people came out with the usual hysterical nonsense. It amazes me that some people are still so shocked and suprised when they or someone they know gets it. Check the stats. It is absolutely inevitable someone in fact probably several people in your circle of family and friends will be hit with the big C at some stage. I never expect to live forever or be above being struck down by any of the many many diseases and things that can and will go wrong in life. Relatively speaking having any sort of a decent run in a first world country gives you very little to complain about. We are all dying every day just at slightly different speeds. It's as natural as being born. Cancer is not evil. It's just another type of predator on a planet absolutely teeming with them.
Scots duo pay dearly for mistakes 9:07pm on 03 Apr 2009 They went out drinking after a drubbing with several days to go before next match - nothing near enough for a lifetime ban. They made the V-sign presumably at the press? I can't see any reason they would do this to their own fans especially as several people have mentioned that these are made up of a lot of Rangers fans anyway. Unless I'm missing something this seems like the biggest over reaction I have ever witnessed. And I thought the Republic of Ireland did self destruction better than anyone!
Ireland's long, long wait comes to an end - just 09:35am on 22 Mar 2009 Oh this feels so good! Absolutely enthralling game of rugby. Congratulations to Wales who would have handsomely won on most other days if they weren't playing a side who were driving with the type of passion that a once in a lifetime opportunity gives you. I was genuinely moved by how sporting the Welsh fans were afterward. Absolutely class army of fans. We have a lot in common - two small nations with a borderline insane passion for sport! I won't even attempt to try and describe the national hangover today - this weekend is going to be a long one! Employers be nice when those sick calls come in Monday morning!
Jose bows to Man Utd power 9:47pm on 12 Mar 2009 I am always suprised at Mourhino being touted as the next Manchester United manager. This is not because I think he is wholly unsuitable but more for the fact that it doesn't seem like his style. He loves to come into clubs where even if they are big and have money are perceived as desperately missing success or trophies in some form. Even after Porto he chose Chelsea where he could and did become a folk hero by bringing them unprecedented success after years of modest achievement. Even with Inter who had won Serie A there was the chance to again become a hero by finally getting their hands on the Champions League trophy. With Manchester United all Mourhino can do is fail or simply deliver what is expected. Manchester United have literally won it all. As we speak they are champions of their country, continent and planet. Is this really where Mourhino wants to go? Surely his chances of attaining further god like status would be better realised at a club like Liverpool where winning the Premiership would instantly cement his place in the history books and hearts of every supporter especially if it signaled the end of Manchester United's dominance of the competition. As much as he loves achieving success for the club he manages it would be naive to think his legacy isn't also at the forefront of the decision making process in his mind when he thinks about where he will next ply his trade.
