Leipzig: Town of economic progress and social divide 3:48pm on 28 Oct 2009 I have worked in Germany and was in Leipzig for a conference recently and found the town centre completely delightful and on par to Western Germany. However, just a few minutes from the centre and I saw a rural countryside very much in stark contrast. People said unemployment was very high and they needed every investment possible, but I found the population optimistic and extremely positive. All in all, I do find Germany is a country of two halves, but both good halves.
Adebayor madness mars Man City win 3:44pm on 15 Sep 2009 I remember all those summers ago when Adebayor stressed on how glory and money mattered the least to him as a person. He had nothing as a child and crave very little as an adult. The first thought which entered my mind was "blatent rubbish". Anyone who goes on TV and all that trouble just to communicate that is clearly so full of themselves. Expect more.
Semenya left stranded by storm 5:30pm on 25 Aug 2009 I believe the test was ordered 3 weeks before she won the competition. That makes 80% of the above comments invalid.

Instead of taking the safety button off our racism guns, why don't we ask the only person which has a valid opinion on this matter, namely: Semenya?

Nope, that would be too decent and reasonable. Instead, let's ask what every African thinks and turn nothing into an ethnic pride issue.

Why bankers aren't worth it 01:14am on 05 Jul 2009 As with most things, there are tradeoffs and checks & balances. All of which have been shockingly lacking in the past decade. The economy has been stretched too thin in far too a dramatic fashion. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the credit crisis has all contributed to revealing the lack of resilience in our economy.
China's Olympic venues now 10:25am on 15 Apr 2009 I would never visit the stadiums, knowing the money should have been spent on better welfare for my fellow Chinese citizens. What glory or joy is there, knowing hundreds of millions can not even afford the ticket? Is this the result Chinese people want after 5000 years of culture and history?

Boat Race returning to the BBC 4:08pm on 19 Mar 2009 It's sad to see some many cynical comments. The boat race is held in high regards across the world from everyone who has had or not had a higher education, let alone at Oxbridge.

Will China be strengthened by adversity? 11:48am on 02 Mar 2009 One has to also remember that a lot of the governmental decisions on how the economy is structured in China is based on "stability of power for the party" not on how best to improve the country.

Due to the fact that China is catching up and some random nature of economics, it has seemed to work so far. The fundamental reasoning and the foundation of China's deep challenges remain. That is the reason for problems. It is not pessimism, it's just so many people have blindly shunned facts.

"Will the Credit Crunch hit Asia in 2009?"

Sometimes I don't know what economists are smoking. Do we have to wait for countries to collapse like Eastern Europe to acknowledge how deep the problem is?

Asia will definitely be hit and hit the Hardest! It has none of the social and economic resilience that was built up over decades in the west.

Spawning poverty and widening gaps in social equality, massive unregistered job losses, unreformed laws and constitution...

"Will the credit crunch hit asia?"

the question is:

"why are our economies managed and studied by these people?"
